My DS will not sleep in a crib or a pack n play. He likes being curled up in a little ball like he was in the womb. He loves sleeping in his boppy all curled into the hole in the middle. I know they are not supposed to sleep in them because of SIDS. Any ideas on how to get him to sleep in a bed? He just hates laying flat. If I get him to sleep in my arms, he wakes up as soon as I put lay him down. Outside the boppy he only sleeps well if someone is holding him. Also, he is always swaddled in a blanket or two to keep his temperature up.

At this age, my boys slept in their swings or bouncy chair. I couldn't get them to sleep in their cribs until about 5 months!

"He loves sleeping in his boppy all curled into the hole in the middle." Awww....you just have to post of pic of this! It sounds adorable!! I don't really have any advice for you on how to get him to sleep in a crib. Sometimes my little ones refuse to nap in their crib too. So I rotate between the swing, bouncy, lap, and my arms. At this age, it's whatever works and keeps them quiet. I figure they'll grow out of this stage when they're ready.

You could put the boppy in the crib.

I think this is normal for that age... If you really want to move them into the cribs now, then I suggest the swaddlers. They also sell those props that help them sleep on their side and they may like that. I didn't worry about it at that age though.

At that age, I just let them sleep wherever they would sleep. Swings, bouncers, boppies, carseats, etc., wherever they were happy.

You could also try getting something like the Angel Care monitoring system if you are worried about sids. It goes off if the baby hasn't moved in a certain amount of seconds. I am really happy with my although the are pricey. I slept mine in the swings and bouncy seats in the begining when they were fussy and wouldn't sleep. You could also try something like the amby bed, but really pricey, but at that point I was so sleep deprived I was ready to by two until I figured out how to deal with my son's colicyness :)

Thanks everyone. He is constantly swaddled, he just doesn't like laying flat. I am not really nervous about him sleeping in the boppy, I'm just trying to do what I am "supposed to." I am a first time mom and am constantly questioning whether I am doing things wrong and going to screw them up forever. I know its irrational, but I am still getting used to all this.

Have you tried a crib wedge? That may help if you want to use the crib. My boys love their boppies but only since they went to big boy beds! They use them instead of pillows.

I sent you a PM, not sure if you got it. But my boys slept swaddled in boppys until they could roll over- which was just a few weeks ago!

my girls slept swaddled in their boppies too! they couldn't sleep without their boppies for awhile. once they got more aware and could move more i swaddled them tight so they couldn't really go anywhere. plus, they were getting up a lot during the night to eat, so I was constantly checking on them. i think he will be ok to sleep in it.

My girls slept in their boppies as well from 1 months until they were 4 months and started to roll over. I had the boppies right next to me in bed. They fell asleep quickly without crying. I know you are not supposed to do this but it worked for me. My older son slept on a boppy for 9 months!!!

Thanks everyone. He is in there now. I was a little worried because he just whined for the last hour and he didn't want to eat, didn't need changed and was already in the boppy where he is usually happy. His blanket had become a little loose though, so dad unwrapped him in swaddled him in a bigger blanket that is easier to make tighter, put a hat on him and back to the boppy. He passed out in about 3 minutes.

nothing to add re: boppys as ours sleep in the crib fine but I did notice that you are swaddling yours in blankets... I would totally recommend the velcro swaddle blankets that they sell, they are SO much easier than blankets and we love ours. We have 3 sets and frankly I wish we had more - we have both kidappotamus and Halo sleep sacks, both are excellent!!
