Alright, my boys are a month old and I feel like we aren't improving on the night time sleeping. I just want to know if for twins we are doing bad. Currently they are mostly asleep from 11pm to 6am ish. However, they wake up frequently and need help going back to sleep. Between the two waking up, we have gotten 2 hours with both asleep once , more likely to get 1 to 1.5 hours of time couple times a night with both asleep soundly. They are now tandem breastfeeding at night, seems to help me out some. still eating every 2 hours most of night. I think I am doing about as much as I can at night to help with sleeping, just night light on, quiet, minimal stimulation, etc. they are up more of the day now, no long day naps, so honestly I think I am doing all I can right now to encourage the night time sleeping. with my singleton, he was getting at least 1 4 hour stretch by now, I just feel like I am not progressing well.

Does this sound about par for twins at one month? Just curious how others were doing at around 1 month of age to know if I seem to be on track.
    thanks!

To be honest with you, it's all a blur, the first 2 months, all I remember from my point of view is breastfeeding/bottlefeeding/changing diapers/sleeping some here and there and then repeat. At times, I would remember I had to eat also :). I think your situation sounds right. I think mine were making it to 3 hours at times, but not all the time. Hang in there, it gets better after 2 months, and even better after 3. You are in the middle of the sleep depravation period. I am sure you are doing a great job!!!

Sounds pretty normal to me....I didn't bf, but we were up every few hours with our boys for many months. They didn't STTN until they were 9.5 months. Hang in there! It will come.

At that age my boys slept for about 3 hours at a stretch at night. They woke to eat and then usually went back to sleep before the end of the feeding or within minutes of finishing. They napped all day long too. They were rarely awake longer than 90 minutes before needing another nap.

At just a month old you're doing fine! You've got a few more weeks (2-4) before you'll see much difference there. I didn't read any books on it, but maybe somebody else will chime in with some good tips?

Sounds totally normal to me! Mine did exactly the same. The longest stretch of sleep I would get after feeding them was about an hour. They ate every 2 hours around the clock until they werw about a month old adjustes. I was desperate for sleep one night and flipped them to their tummies. THey went from eating every 2 hrs at night to a 7 hour stretch that very instant! HEAVEN. About a month later (2 months adjusted) they were sleeping 12-13 hrs without a bottle (formula fed). Hope that helps. My singleton slept longer stretches than my twins, too. Who knows. Oh, also< they woke eachother with their cries so we put them in separate rooms.

This time period is pretty much a blur to me now but i think my two were only sleeping 2-3hr stretches at this point. It sounds like your doing awesome and this is totally normal. Mine sttn around 5 months...hang in there!

Sounds right to me, too. Their pedi said that it doesn't really matter what you do to try to help them, it's just a matter of brain development. Mine were sleeping for a 4-5 hour stretch by 2 months (2 weeks adjusted) and now at over 3 months (6-7 weeks adjusted) are sleeping 7 hours, usually 9:30-4:30. It gets better, I swear!

Mine did the same thing. the first few months were like that then they finally started sleeping a 4 hour stretch mostly at the same time. I felt like I got 1.5 hours of sleep all the time. It was extremely tiring. Once a week my husband would do the early night feed with EBM just so I could get a 3 hour stretch. Good luck and know it will get better!
