My DD and DS have outgrown their carters sleep sacks. DD loves hers and is unhappy without it on. I cannot see spending $25 on halo ones as because of reflux we need a clean one each day and only do laundry each week. That is 14 total. I would need a mortgage.

Has anyone had luck making their own? I am searching for a good pattern and cannot find one.

    Thanks in advance!

No advice on how to make your own (I don't sew), but have you checked out your local craigslist of MOM's clubs? I'm sure you can get gentle used ones for a lot less than new. Also, I think Halo has a twins offer, but I don't remember the details. GL and if you do make your own, post some pix!!!

Are the Carter's ones just too short? If so, you could take out the bottom seam and just sew in some extra fabric to make them longer, it might look a little goofy (depending on if you can match the color or not), but it's certainly cheaper than buying new ones. And I envy you, I detest laundry and the longest I can go is 2 days, I think I go through more clothes than the babies with all the spitting up they do.

LOL - we do 9 loads of baby laundry every saturday night. We live in an apartment building and can really only do laundry when DH is home. It pretty much takes up the whole day as we our laundry at the same time.

For Elizabeth it is just a length thing, but for Thomas it is a width thing as well. They told me he would slow down on the growth soon, but I just cant see it happening!

    .

You must have a ton of baby clothes/sheets/etc. We do about a load a day and 2 on the weekends when we do all our sheets and towels.

We sure do. When the reflux was at its worst, it was awful!

I did a search and found THIS Tammy. There is also a pattern made by McCall.

I saw hers as well. It is mising a couple things I really would like and I am sure I could design it myself, I am just way too busy. :) The McCall one would be perfect. Thanks

I was also going to suggest mccall's or simplicity. Hope you find one that works.

I just wanted to say that my mom made use some sleep sacks with a pattern she got from the fabric store. She actually used extra fleece that was laying around. My DD scoots a lot so I won't use blankets and when I told her how much they cost she about had a heart attack and she said she could make them for a fraction of the price. The nice thing about the one my mom made was the armholes are bigger and it's easier to put over their pjs. I'll ask her what the pattern was.

Thanks so much. I bought some fleece blankets at the thrift store last night. Very cheap and great quality.

I was going to wing it and see. :)

It was McCalls. I think they are roomier in general. Let us know how they turn out!

I just have to say that I am amazed that you have time to sew!! That is great! Halo does do a buy one get one 50percent off but making them seems much more practical!

    I considered doing exactly this...

HOWEVER, I couldn't find fabric that was flame retardant or any sources for flame retardant treatment for fabrics in less than commercial volumes. I couldn't bring myself to put them in a loose sack that wasn't treated. It's your call but I wanted to be sure you had considered this before you took the time to make them.

I am hoping to make one or two on Saturday. That is if I have recovered from having 6 kids here all day Friday.
