Good Morning everyone! I was wondering if anyone else uses sleep sacks and if there are any age limits on them? Should you not use them if your babies roll in their cribs a lot?

Also, I found these things called Blankeaze (they look like fleece overalls) that older babies can wear as a wearable blanket, but everywhere I have looked are sold out. Any ideas on where to find these?

Like everything else, I worry (probably too much) that they are either too warm or too cold at night.

    Thanks for your help! Jessica

I think it depends on the baby. I stopped using them with DS when he started rolling a lot and sleeping on this tummy. It would get twisted around his body, and he ended up more upset when he couldn't move about freely. We live in chilly MN, and put them to sleep in Carter's blanket sleepers and onesies.

The Blanketeazes look just like blanket sleepers w/o the arms, so I think a nice thick sleeper (like the Carter's ones) would be equivalent. They are expensive if you buy them at BRU, but the Carters store and Sam's Club carry them for about $6-$7 a piece.

    Good Luck! Suzi

Ummm, no, my oldest was in a sleep sack until age 2 1/2 ... in a twin bed!

We're European, and sleep sacks is all I have ever known. I was in them too. My twins are still in Halo, size L, and I have plenty of European larger sizes "in stock", so I am sure they'll be in sleep sacks until age 2 or so, until they're ready to properly use a blanket and a pillow.

My oldest could walk the stairs in them, go across the room. The twins can stand up, move around ... but I think it makes climbing out harder, although my brother (32 now) was able to get out of his crib in a sleep sack!

P.S. Check Halo ... they also have toddler sizes, etc.!

Mine are still wearing theirs at 10 months! I admit, they've fallen over a couple times trying to stand up in them. I just take them off right away in the morning instead of letting them play for awhile as usual.
It's cold around here, and these are their warmest, coziest pjs.

We're still using them, and I plan to continue as long as they'll fit in them. I love them

I used them last spring and they worked great. Then they slept in onesies or light cotton sleepers all summer. Once it started to get cold here this fall (around 7 months old), I tried to use them again and the girls were SO not having it!!! They roll around a lot and sleep on their bellies (yeah I know.. I do put them on their backs, but they immediately flip). Well apparently its more difficult for them to roll around with the sack on so they were not settling down. Now I just put them in warm fleecy sleepers or the children's place sleepers depending on the temp of the nursery. Since we keep our house the same temp all year (right around 70degrees), I don't think they get too cold at night. I'd love for them to wear the sacks, but I guess I should have used them all summer so they'd be used to moving around in them. Oh well.

I can't see them outgrowing sleep sacks at all! They move so much at night that even if blankets were safe in the crib, they'd never manage to stay covered. :)

We still use them for naps sometimes - for some reason the girls won't sleep if they aren't in pajamas or sleep sacks. I don't think they "get" that it is time for nap if they are in their street clothes.

My almost-5-month DS is rolling and creeping all over his crib, and has no problem doing so in a sleep sack....the weather is unpredictable here, and we have the heat on at night, so usually I put both of mine in a long-sleeved onesie plus a fleece sleep sack, and they seem very comfortable.

Mine will be 2 next week and they still wear sleep sacks. They can walk just fine in them! But the sacks inhibit their ability to climb -- I'm hoping that will keep them from climbing out of their cribs a little longer.

They even make sleep sacks for toddlers with foot holes in the bottom (for kids who aren't as willing as mine to do the shuffle). I think we'll be using them for as long as the girls are willing, because they move around way too much to keep a blanket on at night.

We used the all last winter, they would roll and stand up in them. So they were 13 months when we stopped, last winter. Still debating about using them this winter, I might get the kind with feet in them.

Thank you all so much - this is such a great website. I'll give them try and see how they like them.

    Thanks - Jessica

WE LOVE LOVE LOVE the girls sleep sacks. They are so great. We use the light cotton ones in the summer and the warmer fleece ones in the winter. It is really the only way to keep them covered and warm at this point because they move around so much in their crib that blankets just don't stay (and I'm still a little nervous about their faces getting covered up during the night.) I might add that they come in very large sizes. My girls are 32 in long and still have plenty of room in their L (or are they XL?) size sleepsacks.

We are still using the sleep sacks here and my girls are fine with them. Right now they are wearing the large ones but will probably grow out of them soon since they are the same ones they wore last winter. They also figured out how to walk in them and can walk around their crib and to the bathroom to brush their teeth and back to their room too without a problem (all this walking is done in the ones with out the feet sticking out). So I am going to order x-large fleece ones from their website for when it is colder out. Also if you order them from Halo they have a twin discount, I think it is buy one get one free. If I remember correctly you have to call in the order and ask about the discount. Their website is: https://www.halosleep.com/

Our boys are still using theirs at 18 months, and they're so used to them they can't sleep without them. I even bought the cotton ones to use in the summer when it was too hot for fleece. They're just now starting to get too tall for the brand of fleece ones we've been using since they were 3 months old, so I just bought some of the Halo toddler sleep sacks online. I can't wait for them to arrive! I liked the comment that a pp said about it hindering their ability to climb out of the crib. Yet another benefit to extended sleep sack use! ;)

Dax is currently wearing his sleepsack and the girls were at this age as well. Dax is a roller and his Halo doesn't get caught around him at all. He's in a large right now due to his height and the girls have the toddler sleepsacks with leg holes.

My guys still wear sleep sacks. They move around too much to stay under a blanket. I love them because they fit for a long time and I don't have the issue with them being too snug in the diaper area (we cloth diaper) like I do with blanket sleepers. I also find the blanket sleepers are too warm for them except in the coldest months. We used the cotton sacks over the Summer months and they're in the Halo fleece toddler sacks now. They can climb into and out of the crib with them on so don't rely on the sacks to prevent climbing.
