My DS is starting to develop a flat spot in the back right side of his head. He always lays with his head to the right and I have tried everything I can think of to get him to lay to the left but he won't do it and always ends up back on the right hand side of his head. Is there a sleep positioner that I can get to kind of force him to look to the left? Or do any of you have any ideas on how to safely position his head to where he looks to the left for a while?

    Thanks!!

How old is he?? Only reason I ask because if he is rolling or squirming alot a positioner might be a waste of money. You can get a positioner and place him on his right side when he sleeps to take some of the pressue off. You can hang toys in front of him to get him to look right more often. I am sure that others will have some more ideas for you.

If he's looking on the right hand side is he looking into the center of the room? I read that babies will usually always turn there head to look into the room, so if it is on his right hand side you could try changing his position in the crib so he'll look to the left and into the room.

Other then that I'm not sure. I haven't used a sleep positioner

He's 11 weeks old. And he does it when he is sleeping, and when he's in his swing for morning nap. We put a little rolled up blanket on the right side in his swing but he still moves his head to the right. I do have him in a sleep positioner now, but he and his sister still manage to squirm their way out of it. I tried moving him to the other side of the crib where the mobile is (he loves to look at it) but once he falls asleep, he is looking to the right :unknw:

If they are in a sleep postioner together, how about separating them and seeing if he will stay in it?? Or, how about some tummy time during the day too.

How about putting a rolled up washcloth under his shirt behind his right shoulder? That way he won't be able to lie his head flat against the seat or crib and he'll turn to the left. We did this with one of my daughters and it worked. Tummy time is a good idea too...

The sleep positioner by the First Years is the best one. You can velcro it into position and it's very sturdy. I really recommend this. Side sleeping will help the issue.
