If you have any advise please pitch in... I really don't know what to do at this point.
My good sleeper Eli, ( he would really STTN from 9 pm to 7 am since he wasn't even 5 months old) all of a sudden started to wake up during the night several times. At first, I thought it was related to him being sick at the time. he got some virus, which settled in his ears, and he would wake up and cry uncontrollably 3-4 times a night. I couldn't get him back to sleep for some time. So I attributed that behavior to his ears, I thought he was in pain. That was last week. Then he got better, fever is gone, ears are ok. But now it's getting worse, cause he wakes up, stands up in his crib and ready to play. I would not mind it, and let him play until he'd fall asleep, but he doesn't peacefully play, he starts crying and, again, I can't get him back to sleep. It's like his sleep is all gone... ( at 5 am <_< ) So he either wakes up and screams right away, or starts playing and then screams... Either way it gets to that point and then it takes foreeeever to put him back down.

Do you think this is just a stage that too shall pass?

    TIA

Did he have ear infections and need antibiotics? Is it possible that he still has them?

I dont think ear infections go away without treatment. I would take him back and see if you need them. When mine had them they would wake at night or from their naps early and crying and I knew something was off. I bet he still has an ear infection that needs to be treated.

I also agree that infections generally need antibiotics to clear up. Please keep us updated  .

Yes, please do! I recall reading (because my daughter was waking up at night) that babies with ear infections do not like to lie down due to the change in pressure.

If it turns out not to be an are infection, it could be a new "habit". I know my kids can develop new sleep habits quickly, especially after being sick, on vacation, etc. (whenever their normal routine is messed up). I would just try to get back into the same routine that you were in before- you will both be happier in the end.

What time does he go to bed? How does he do during nap time- do he cry then? Could he be getting teeth? Can he get down after he stands up? These are all things that can contribute to sleep isssues.

Maybe try giving him some tylonol or Motrin. How about an earlier bed time?

Ear infections that aren't too severe can often go away without antibiotics. I think that most of the people I have worked with like to treat them with antibiotics though.

Even if his ears aren't infected, he could have fluid behind his eardrum which is very painful. I do hope for you all that this is short-lived. GL
