skipped night bottle

I feed the boys 4 bottles a day - the three meals and one before bed. I did night weaning and am on day 9 of it with really good results. They are sleeping through although not completely reliably. Tonight, Elias skipped his night bottle, wouldn't have a sip. If he wakes up at night, generally I'd let him cio. At this point, he won't even cry really. But now, I'm worried that he might be hungry. How do I know? What do i do? Should I go to him as soon as he wakes up? Should I see if he puts himself back to sleep. I don't want to entrench any bad habits. Generally, he finishes dinner at 5 with a night bottle at 7. He next eats at 6:30 or 7 depending on when he wakes up so I know he can go a long time but he's down one bottle. How much difference does that make.

    I need a game plan.
    Thanks

I would let him CIO every time. He's not hungry at that age - I really don't think. Think of it this way - how hungry is he for his am bottle? I wouldn't get him up at all. Mine have been sleeping through the night since 3 mos and one week - they definitely don't need the night bottle at this point. Just my opinion. Good luck

I would continue with what you are doing and not feed him if he wakes. Every now and then my girls would do this and never even woke up wanting it! They were hungry the next morning though.

It's going to change a little as he grows, so take this for what it's worth. I would wait it out for at least a few min. in the a.m., but be prepared. He might be hungry next week even though he's not this week. It's such a fluid process. :hug99:

I would also let him go for a bit if he wakes up and not feed him. Many mornings my Jack and Lily are simply not as hungry as I would think. We are around the same age as yours and also do four bottles and three meals with the last bottle around 7. Lily sometimes will only drink 2 or 3 ounces of this bottle and she is still fine for the night. I think they are pretty good at regulating their hunger at this age.

Also, are you doing four bottles in addition to the 7pm bottle or four total. If you are doing five total he may be telling you he is ready to drop one. We have been doing 4 bottles total ...7:45- 1st bottle, 8:30 breakfast, 9:30 NAP, 11:30 bottle, 1pm lunch, 2:30 Nap 4:00 bottle, 6 dinner, and 7 bottle with 7:30 bedtime. For what it is worth we went from 5 bottles to 4 when we dropped the 5pm bottle. They gradually moved their 2pm bottle to 4pm when lunch was introduced and we are at 4 bottles now.

I hope that made some sense and is helpful. I may be reading your post wrong so if you are already doing 4 bottles total then completely ignore my reply :)!

I think he'll be fine. My guys skipped bottles at that age, usually just before a big growth spurt. They wanted sleep more than they wanted food.
