Hello! I keep getting the feeling that my one baby is on the fast track to obesity. Here's the scoop.
    Twin A born at 33 1/2 weeks 3 lbs. 5 oz. Currently at 3 months is 9 1/2 lbs.
    Twin B born at 33 1/2 weeks 4 lbs. 12 oz. Currently at 3 months 12 - 12 1/2 lbs.

Does this sound right? I look at some of your weights for your babies and ours have gained a TREMENDOUS amount since birth.

Their eating schedule is as follows:
    Twin A eats every 3 1/2 hrs. approx. 3 1/2 - 4 oz.
    Twin B eats every 3 1/2 hrs. approx. 4 1/2 - 5 oz.

Does this seem accurate as well?

    Thanks,
    Jen

Both oof your babies sound tiny compared to mine!

    Twin A - born 6 lbs. 2 oz - at 13 weeks - 16 lbs. 6 oz.
    Twin B - born 6 lbs. 9 oz. - at 13 weeks - 16 lbs.

    !!!

I offer them 180 ml every three hours. They usually have 5 to 7 bottles a day, depending on whether they sleep through the night. One usually drains his bottle, the other (twin B ) is finicky and often leaves a lot.

I wouldn't worry. Sounds like your guys are growing well. As soon as they start crawling, walking, etc. they'll be trim!

    I wouldn't worry too much sounds like they are just good eaters, their weight gain will slow down soon and level off;
they grow the most in the first 4-6 mo of life.

My girls gained a lot the first 6 months and then slowed down. Dax is currently somewhere between 13 and 14 lbs at 3 months old. Both of my girls ate different amounts as well with the smaller baby eating less. They've held steady at about a 3 lb difference between them since 6 months old even though Ainsley eats way more than Sierra. I wouldn't worry about your chunkier baby just yet.

If you are worried about a discrepency, don't worry. Babies grow at different rates. My "A" out eats her brother but is still about 2 - 5 lbs less than him.

    Oh Jen,

I can't believe I am reading this post because I posted the SAME EXACT POST when my girls were 4 months. I felt the same exact way you did. I thought I was overfeeding my girls and that I too was going to have obese girls. What a diagnosis to make when they are so little. I eventually came to realize that my fear of making them obese was more about my struggles with weight. If it makes you feel better, at 4 months, Lorien was 14.3lbs and Arwen was 16.3lbs. But to be honest, I really came to LOVE that Arwen was my chunka mama. I actually missed it when it started disappearing (although she still has the cutest buddah belly ever!!). From what I have learned from research and the Ped and the ladies here is that up until the age of 4 (if memory serves me), babies/toddlers don't have the ability to overeat unless we are shoving it in them. Unlike adults, they have the ability to stop eating when they are full. They don't keep shoving it in because it tastes so good. You should feel very happy that your babies are such healthy weights. Embrace you sweet plump babies and be happy that you are not dealing with the opposite situation which can be so never racking and scary!!!

Hi Jen, My girls were born at 34 weeks exactly and weighed 3lb 9oz and 3lb 10oz. Now at a little over 3 months they weigh over 10 lbs each. Friends of ours gave birth to their little girl 10 days before our girls were born and she was a full term baby who weighed over 7lbs at birth. Now she weighs a little over 12lbs and I started to worry about the fact that our girls have nearly tripled their birth weight while our friends' little girl hasn't even doubled her's. But then I think its a preemie thing. They had to make up for all that growing they should have been doing the last month of pregnancy. Plus they were on high calorie preemie formula for the first 2 1/2 months and I think that helped them pack on some pounds. If you are concerned talk to you ped (I plan on bringing it up at our 4 month app), but I think its normal. Plus your girls had a discrepancy in weight at birth and may just be on different paths. While my girls are approximately the same weight, they have very different builds. Hope this helps, Leighann

ps: My girls eat every 4 hours 4-5oz (usually 4 1/2, but sometimes they take an extra 1/2 oz during the late afternoon (4 pm) and early evening (8 pm) bottles.
