Skin irritation * UPDATE in 1st post*

About 3 weeks ago I noticed that Kaylee's feet had red bumps on them. I didn't think much about it at the time and just kept an eye on them. Well then the bumps moved up her leg and she has them behind her knee, on her knee cap and on her upper leg. (not the same leg either). Now she has bumps on her face.

I have been using cortizone and it seems to help but if I miss a night they are right back. What worries me is that her feet are now peeling where the bumps were. Does this sound like an allergic reaction to something? I haven't really changed anything. I bought some dial soap and thought we would start using that and see if that helps at all. Any suggestions.

I have been debating on taking her to the Dr, but I am scared that he will tell me it is dry skin, does it sound like that? But why would her feet be peeling?

I took Kaylee to the Dr on Monday and they have no idea what she has so now I have to take her to the Dermotologist. I called and they can't get her in until May 1. Oh I was mad and said that she is going to have bumps all over her by then. Her hands are now peeling. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I did call the Dr's office back and explained she is only 19 months old. She said that she will call with her 1st cancellation. We got in to the Dr tomorrow. Hopefully we get an answer.

 

Sounds like eczema. With Ryan he gets bumpy red patches. If we miss 1 night of his lotion (we use Mustela Dermo-Pediatrics), it comes right back the next day. Not sure if you bath everyday, but you might want to go to an every other day schedule. We also use the Mustela Dermo-Pediatric body wash. It has no soap in it so it doesn't dry the skin.

 

It sounds like a case for the pedi to me. They can guide you on figuring it out if they are reacting to something etc.

Update in the 1st post

 

Lachlan has keratosis pilaris (sp?) He has red bumps all over his legs, arms and face. I guess its like ezcema. We bathe every other day and apply aquaphor to his entire body. We use Cortisone when it gets bad. It gets worse in spring/summer.

I am taking him to a dermatologist b/c I feel that he is allergic to something..

Good luck and keep pressing them until they figure out what it is!

Put about an 1/8 of a bottle of baby oil in her bath and bath her in Cetaphil cleanser(hair and all). Jazz has real bad ecxema and this is what finally cleared most of it up. It is really great for dry skin because the cetaphil is soapless so it doesn't dry the skin up and the baby oil seals the moisture in. HTH

 

Okay here is the UPDATE I couldn't change the title.

Well I took Kaylee to the Dermotologist and they said it is eczema. It is not getting better and her hands are peeling now. I still don't think that is what she has, but I am not the Dr. The Peds office told me that they were 100% sure it wasn't eczema and the Dermotologist told me it was. I guess we will put the prescription stuff on and see what happens. Anyone that is familar with Eczema does it peel? (bottom of her feet and now her hands)

Reply to the baby oil, I would love to use baby oil but she broke out when I used it a while back so I think she is allergic to it.
