I try to be very careful when feeding, I am always trying to check and wipe clean, but there are still red spots and I am concerned they are going to get worse. This is more of a problem with my little guy who still is working on holding his head up. Can I put anything on it?

one DD has bad redness/drying all over her cheeks/neck from drooling/teething. we put some vasaline to act as a moisture barrier and dry her face a lot with a clean cloth.

oddly my other DD doesn't have a single mark and she drools just as much?

I had this problem big time with DS, I put on aquapor on his head after baths, before bed, and when he woke up. It really helped. I also tuck the burpcloth into his neck (he was a big time drooler), that also seemed to help. Make sure the area is dry before you put anything on it.

You can make sure it is very dry and then put Aquaphor on it. That helps keep the skin from getting irritated when it gets damp again.

If the redness is very persistent or if you see pus or lots of little red dots (as opposed to just general redness), it could be yeast. One of my SIL's boys had this, and their ped didn't even suggest it -- she just figured it out on her own. Once she started using Lotrimin on it, it cleared up within two days. I would ask your ped for approval first, though, if you've never used Lotrimin on the babies before.

My DD Sarah had a heavy head and a fat neck -- her neck was nearly always red until about 6 months when she finally got good at sitting upright. It never seemed to really bother her, though -- it just looked icky to me.

I put A and D on the crease with a layer of Vaseline over the top. It worked really well.

My little girl had this problem until she got good at holding her head up. We showed the pediatrician, who said to put aquaphor on it, which we did, but she also gave us a prescription for nystatin cream as a precautionary measure, as apparently its very easy for babies to develop a yeast infection there due to the moisture. Signs to look out for are a rash, and a foul odour (ewww). Thankfully the aquaphor did the trick.

Our pedi said to clean it twice a day with a cotton ball and either soapy water or hydrogen peroxide. We do the peroxide because we don't have to rinse it and the peroxide dries quickly. Then we started with hydrocortisone cream but that didn't help so we use lotrimin now. It worked right away. GL.

The older mine get the better it gets around the neck. I usually wipe it with a washcloth in the AM and PM and sometimes lotion helps too.
