My daughter just turned 7 and I think I would like to start her on some kind of skin care. I didn't really take care of my skin until I was an adult and I sure wish I had. Are there products made for youth or do you just use a mild cleanser? I guess I'm looking at cleanser and moisturizer maybe. Or, is it too early? The things I've read online recommend 9 years old but is it really ever too early? Thanks for your help...

My oldest is 9 today, but this past year we had to begin some sort of thing with her. Her skin was breaking out. I bought her a skin cleaner, and once a week she uses a pimple wipe. She sometimes uses my Nivea gentle skin one.

My DD is 7.5 and for us it'd be too early.
I'll start when I see issues, for now heavy sunscreen when outside is all we do. That's far more than I did when I was her age! :)

My twins are 8 and we don't do much more than soap really, and sunscreen when outside. For me, I don't think I will start any routine with them until I see a problem with their skin. We do use aquaphor in winter sometimes due to dry skin from the cold, but that is really it as far as lotion.

I would get plain Cetaphil skin cleanser, and have her use that with a washcloth. It's one of the best cleansers out there -- I use the facial cleanser in the summer, and the gentle skin cleanser in the winter when my skin is dryer. Love it, and it's so gentle that you can use it even on a baby's skin...

I don't think it is necessarily too young to start with the basics.

Washing her face @ night to get rid of whatever is on it - dust, etc is not a bad idea and a great habit to get into.

Even using a warm wet cloth sould be a start.
