It kind of depends on the brand but for the most part, large. I started out with mediums but that went away pretty quick. I have a long torso anyway so it's a little tough to find things long enough. If you are showing a little or not at all, I recommend putting on two of those little baby bumps they give you at the store--that usually is pretty close to what you'll be in the 3rd tri. It's hard because there are stages of pregnancy so you might need several different sizes.
    Borrow clothes if you can!!

Oh!! Haha!! Sorry about that--I think I'm totally preoccupied because NONE of my mat clothes fit anymore! :)

To answer your actual question, I would not buy newborn (or even 3-6 mos) because everyone will give you those sizes as gifts or handmedowns. That's my experience, at least. A bunch of my friends gave us their newborn clothes because the babies grow out of them so quickly.

p.s. I'd still buy size large for yourself! :)

You will get a lot of 0-3 months at your shower and some 3-6 months as well. And possibly as gifts after the babies are born. You might need some newborn clothes and might get a few for your shower as well. It's really hard to know what size the babies will be in when they are born. They may very well fit in newborn clothes for a few weeks before moving to 0-3 months.

My surviving twin went from preemie to 0 -3 months. I think he wore newborn for maybe a week. They were born at 36 weeks and 2 days though.

my girls were born at 4 lb 7 oz, and 4 lb 9 oz at 36 wks, and spent 2 weeks in the nicu. after coming home from the nicu, they were in preemie clothes for almost a month, then newborn for another month or so before moving on. it was pretty easy to shop for them with them being born in the texas summer, lots of onesies!

My babies will be born in the Alberta Summer, which consists of maybe 2 weeks of hot weather LOL Im buying a couple summer things but it will be mostly warmer clothes. Its kinda good because I can buy off season now! All the spring stuff is in so the winter stuff is on sale. Alot of the time we have snow by Halloween!! Trying to include snowsuits in the costume is alot of fun! Im so jealous of other peoples weather! lol

My girls were born at 35 weeks 5 days. They weighed 6 lbs 3 oz and 5 lbs 13 oz. They some premie clothes for several weeks. My oldest DD was born at 37 weeks and weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and she could have worn premie clothes also but didn't.
