We had our 30 week appt today with a growth u/s. The girls are doing well. I wasn't given weights this time was just told that the girls have an 18% difference in weight, last month there was only a 6%.... The o/b didn't seem concerned but I can't help but worry as we still have another 6 weeks to go, if all works well.

    Advice... should I be concerned.

Oh yea... they are seperate sacs, shared placenta seen on our early u/s at 12 weeks.

I dont know what percent difference our babies are, but they are almost a pound different in weight

My concern is due to the fact they are sharing a placenta and wonder if this is the onset of TTTS.

Our babies do not share a placenta (well, they each had one and now they have fused), so it may be different, but my doctor told me that they would not get concerned about growth discordance until it reached 20%. Obviously you are close to 20% now, but like I said it could be different, and my doctor didn't say whether they would do anything different at 20%. The difference for our girls was the biggest for the entire pregnancy at 30 weeks (about 10%), but at 34 weeks baby b had almost caught up to baby a.

I hope some others with more experience with this will chime in.

My o/b did say that 20% was when they got concerned, it's just so close to that.

At around 30 weeks for me our babies had a size difference of around 16%. For the next 5-6 weeks the difference continued to drop and they were close to the same size. Starting at 35-36 weeks, the sizes started to spread again and right now our babies are 26 percentile points apart. My doctor didn't seem very concerned because they are now both growing on their percentile from week to week. (There is about a pound difference)

If the ob didn't seemed concerned I wouldn't worry either. The bigger the babies get the more of a chance there is of not being able to get accurate measurements, it is hard to get the whole head or the whole thigh because they are so cramped in there. I think at this point there would be more of a concern if there was a big fluid difference or low fluid levels. Also I don't think that they start to look into it until there is more than a 20% discordance, watch they will probably turn that around by your next appt. :D
