I'm wondering when people who have their babies in size 4 diapers switched? DS is not even 20lb yet (at least I don't think he is...) but it looks like the size 3 diapers will get tight very soon... and they're supposed to go until 28lb! I know he's not exactly the skinny type (understatement ), but still, it seems early...

I don't remember when we switched to size 4, but it's been a while. They only weigh 21 lbs or so. We had major leakage issues when I switched to the 4's and they work so much better!!

We switched DS at 7ish months and DD at 9ish months. I don't go by the weight guidelines at all, DD is barely 20 pounds at a year and the 3's were getting tight.

You should switch when they get tight. A lot of people don't go by weight, but how they fit. We actually could have put them in size 4 at 8 months, but made the switch at 9 months. They were 17.4 lbs and 18.10 lbs. at their 9 month visit

Oh boy! We are still in the size 3 diapers and we are 11 months! I will say-there have been no problems...yet... We have two more packages of size 3. Maybe it's time to get the size 4's??? Hmmmmm.... They are both over 20lbs for sure!

We switched around 8.5 months. At first I just used them at night because of leakage, but when we ran out of 3's I just went on to 4's for all day. They we 18 and 20 lbs at their 9 mo appt.

ETA: I've actually found a better guide of when to move up is the lower weight of the next size up rather than the higher weight of the one you are in. I'm sure I learned that on here somewhere :)

We switched to size 4 diapers for overnights 2 weeks ago! For daytime they are still in size 3s, but will probably buy size 4s next time. (BTW, they are 21.5lbs and 23.5lbs).

We went to 4s when DS was about 18 lbs (he's 19 now)... We actually use 5s at night (he's a heavy wetter!). We're still in 3s with DD (she's 16.5 lbs and really petite). I agree with pp's... go with what fits/stays dry.

    I agree with this.

I think I'm about to switch. I bought a box of 3s today, but next week I'll buy 4s. I definitely don't go by the weights on the package. Mine are both right around 19lbs.

Olivia has the world's largest thighs and I switched her to 4's at about 5.5 months. YIKES!!! She was 20 lb. 4 oz. at her 6 month appt. That being said, the twins weren't in 4's until around 15 months. They were SKINNY!

Mine have been in size 4s since about 6months! The babies aren't all that big, but we were having leakage issues, so I switched and there have been no problems since!

I didn't switch my girls until 17 months or so, maybe I kept them in them too long .

I have one twin (Ben) who is just fine in size 3. He is probably around 17 pounds, and has a skinny little butt! AJ, however, is around 22 pounds, has a big ol' butt, HUGE thighs, and has been in size 4 since about 5 months. He's starting to get the 'sumo wrestler' thong effect, though, so I was going to try out size 5 next time!

I'm freaking out about this. My girls are still in size 2 diapers. Ugh! Last week I decided this would be the last time I bought size 2, and I was moving to size 3, but wow, some of you were in size 4 at 6 months! My girls are so tiny.

We've been in size 3 diapers for almost a year now! Crazy, when I think about it. But, they seem to fit fine - I'm starting to think we're going to move soon since sometimes we get some massive poopy diapers that are about to leak, but so far, still 3's.

Yeah what gave me the hint is when DS started leaking after only 3 hours in his diapers (we change them every 3-4 hours and when they have a poop). DD just moved to size 3 two weeks ago, so it's going to be a while before I switch her.

We went to size 4 diapers sometime before turning 1 (we were only 17 & 18 pounds at first bday). We are STILL wearing size 4s at 30 months (25 & 26 pounds).

I just bought a pack of size 4's. They're a little big, my girls are sort of in between sizes right now. They wear the size 4 Huggies overnights to bed too.
