My boys are 9 months old (7 months adjusted) and everyone assumes they are sitting up. It drives me nuts because people seem so surprised when I tell them they can sit up, but not unassisted for very long. Then I feel the need to explain that they were early..etc.... Why I feel I have to do this I don't know. I know they will sit up when they are ready, but how old were your LO's when they sat up unassisted?

Mine didnt sit up unassisted for longer periods until the last few weeks, Brooke still falls over but now that Madison is crawling she finally figured out the sitting thing too...they are 8 months adjusted

Mine weren't as early as yours but I still get asked this and they just turned six months old [IMG]. Some people just don't understand that all babies are different. My sister's daughter is ten months old (8 ½ months adjusted) and she just started sitting unassisted. I've just learned to ignore those type people that think your babies should be able to do everything their babies are doing

Mine were 10.5 months before they could really sit for long periods of time unassisted, 7.5 months adjusted. They will get there.

Emma was an early sitter, at 5 months, and Jake didn't sit until 8! He actually was crawling really well, before he started sitting. So yours are 7 months adjusted...no worries! [IMG]

My DD started at 5 1/2 months (really early) and DS at 6 months. But neither one of them rolls over yet. Werid. All babies are different.

ok, my girlfriend just brought her baby over for a visit and when she left I felt like a jackass because I realized I had been explaining my babies away... why they are or not doing suchandsuch yet, when I thought to myself I promised I would never do that!

Elora has been sitting up since about 6.5 months, and Carys is trying to figure it out. It is hard to practice when you have 2 that need help. (They are 7 months now)

I just posted about this about a week ago. Already in that short time, I am seeing improvments.

Don't feel the need to explain yourself. Every child develops at their own rate and can't be compared. EVen babies that were on time, some of them don't walk until around 15 months.

I've always noticed that singletons do things faster than twins, but that doens't make them behind.

It's normal. Mine were 8 1/2 months before they sat up by themselves completely unassisted, but watch out because between then and 11 months they were sitting up, crawling, then pulling up and starting to cruise. It all happened do fast.

Don't be discouraged and know that even if they weren't adjusted age it is still normal...

Thank you everyone. I am not sure why I feel the need to explain to other people and I do know that they will do it when they are ready, but I just wanted to hear what other people thought.
