When did LO's start sitting up on their own? Mine don't seem close to being ready. I remember my oldest son sitting up right at 5 months. I couldn't tell you the exact age for my other children. Is it still early?

I think so. I am thinking its more 6-8 months. DD is trying to sit up especially while in a bouncy or the car seat and lying flat on the floor she brings her legs and upper body up like she is trying but she cant. I also have her sit unassisted after sitting her up but she only lasts a second or less

According to babycenter.com most babies learn to sit independently between 4 and 7 months (could be longer if premature).

Mine were all between 5 & 6 months, with the twins being oldest when they finally learned at just over 6 months.

I can't remember exactly, but I think my boys did not sit up until almost 8 months ( I mean without falling over...at about 6 months they could sit for maybe a couple minutes.)

I don't remember exactly, but mine weren't until closer to 8 months where they could sit on their own. Even around 7 months, they were leaning way forward and could only stay up for a very short time. I definitely wouldn't be worried at this age.

My girls started sitting up unassisted at 9 months, but they were 2 months premature. I used the boppy pillows and bumbo seats to help them before they could do it on their own. I've got one baby that will get into a sitting position all by herself but the other one will just lay there if she just so happens to fall over. :)

Mine were full term and at 8 months DD is just now able to keep herself up for short periods of time before she leans back or topples to the side. She does everything else she is supposed to but she has no desire to sit. DS can sit now but he crawled first. He only will sit if he gets into it from a crawl and then only for a few seconds before he is off again to get into something else :diablo: Yours are way too young to even worry about it!

My last dd sat up just shy of 7 months and took way too long to be able to get herself from laying to sitting up position...seriously I was starting to wonder. BUT she's perfect and finally did it and then no more worries. My girl can sit for a few seconds unassisted but se's still not what I would call sitting yet, my boy...he's jello even in his bumbo! However my boy rolls all over the place now and my girl just lays there on her back. So funny to see the differences side by side. I bet he'll crawl before her but she'll sit before him.

My daughter sat up unassisted at 5.5 months and my son is just now starting to sit up on his own (without needing one of us behind him in case he topples).

    Mine did at 6 months.

I beleive it's a concern only if not sitting up by 9 months corrected.

One of mine just did it on Monday and the other has not yet, she'll sit if you sit here there (for a while) but doesn't do it on her own. They just turned 7 mos.
