My kids creep and roll over plenty but, they are 8 months and not sitting up w/o support.
    Should I be concerned.

If you are concerned you should ask your doc. I think the norm is maybe from 5-8 months. My boys get physical therapy and she is working on that with them. They can both do it for a few seconds but then either fall forward or back. I know crawling is 8-10 months. I think the average for sitting is around 6-7 months.

Mine began to sit independently around 6-7 months, but all babies do things at a different time. If you are concerned, I would definitely check with your pediatrician.

Emma sat independently at 5 months, Jake not until about 9 months.

it was around 8.5 months here (it was just before their 9 month appointment - i remember that). it literally was one day they wouldn't do it & then the next they did. although, they still can't get into a sitting position on their own & i still always put at least one cushion on the floor behind them because they often "forget" they're sitting & fling themselves backwards.

Mine also started to sit w/o support really well just a few days before their 9 month appt. They had been doing well before that, but would still lose their balance. All of a sudden they seemed to do much better. I still stay close by or use a cushion b/c they do fall once in a while.

Hey lil sis! Mine were sitting up independently by 7-8 months or so. As a PP mentioned, I wouldnt be too concerned but mention it to your pedi if it is worrying you. Each baby hits milestones at different rates. My DD is almost one and doesn´t even crawl. Im not worried though. GL & KUP!

You could wait, but I am a special ed teacher and a huge proponent of EI. As soon as it was even mentioned I called and started getting services. IMO it can't hurt. The worst that happens is they don't qualify, and if they do the therapy is great. HTH

My boys are over 9 months and I still don't trust them to sit independently. They do pretty well, but as soon as I turn my head, one of them flings himself backwards or falls to the side. Nate is crawling and Jack is standing and starting to cruise. I'm not worried about it; I just figure sitting still is not on their agenda right now. :D

I think I called it sitting up around 7.5 months. I remember it seemed to take forever but the first thing to come was the leaning forward with the straight back. Then it seemed overnight they could lift upright more and then within weeks they were seriously ALL over the place!! My guess is if you can see them making progress in that direction then they are just going to get it when they get it...but then again if you are concerned there is no harm in doing an EI evaluation.

Thanks for the advice. I for EI to call. I will see what the kids are doing when they have an appt for me and decide then.

I agree with the previous poster who said it can't hurt to call. :good: They'll just get evaluated and then they'll let you know if they qualify.

My two sat on their own at 5.5/6 months.
