    Hello,

Starting what age did you LOs switch their position from back to an unassited sitting position all by themselves?

    Many thanks.

I'm not sure what you're asking? Going from back to sitting directly comes much later, if I remember well. Mine still usually go on their tummy first.

My dd was sitting unassisted at 7 months and ds was sitting unassisted at 8 months.

DS could go from lying (on tummy or back) to sitting at 6 1/2 months and DD didn't even bother trying until 8 1/2 months, but once she did, she mastered getting into the sitting position from tummy or back in one day. She was never very big on tummy time and started crawling at 9 months (almost to the day).

I forgot to mention that she started sitting unassisted at 5 1/2 months, but only if we sat her up.

DD sits unassisted for several minutes if we place her in the sitting position, but if she happens to fall over, she can't get back in the upright position w/o our help. DS is nowhere near sitting w/o assistance, but he rolls all over the living room, and DD doesn't roll very well yet. It's interesting to watch their different skills emerge, isn't it?

About 8.5 to 9 months is when my mover and shaker (my ds) started being able to push himself into a sitting position from his knees. Now he's very adept at it.

My dd has gotten herself sitting twice, and both times I missed how she did it! :pardon: So I'm assuming she did it from on her knees, and this was just recently, after 9 months.

Going to sitting from on their back takes much longer, although my dd does try she half rolls to her side and pushes up with one arm, but she isn't strong enough to get all the way up yet.

My DD started sittin unassisted at 6 months and has just started rolling to her side and sitting on her own two days ago! She has also figured out how to pull her self up on the crib, the jumperoos and the play yard. Oh Geez she will be driving me crazy!! DS doesnt do anything but he has 6 teeth.

DS1 sat unassisted at 7 month and DS2 was at 6 months. Both could move from back -> hands/kness -> sitting by 7.5 months.

7-8 months but that was from tummy. I can't remember when they could go from laying on their back.

Around 8 or 9 months for most of my kids.
