Sitting Unassisted

My LOs are acting like they *want* to sit up- but they just can't do it yet. I am only worried because a couple friends of mine children are already sitting up at 5 months. Am I just being silly, or should I really be conserned? (Mine are almost 5 months)

 

my one twin started sitting unassisted at nine months(7 corrected) and the other still can't sit unassisted. I wouldn't worry to much but if you are concerned you could talk to your DR about it.

 

5 months is way early for sitting unassisted. Mine are just starting to and they're 6-1/2 months adjusted. Check out the First Year Handbook sticky topic, there's a page on when people's LOs hit various milestones.

 

They are really young to be sitting up. Many babies don't sit until 7 or 8 months & that is entirely normal. So, I wouldn't be too worried at this point. :hug:

 

My dd started sitting better at 7 months, my ds isn't sitting alone at all yet. It's much too early to be worried, sitting I think is a milestone that's reached as early as 4 months but up to about 9 months is normal, something like that.

They are still very young! Emma was my earliest, at 5 months, and Jake my latest, at 9 months.

 

My boys sat unassisted for short spurts beginning at 8 months...baby girl starting unassisted sitting just after turning 5 months. There is a whole wide range of normal for sitting...5 months is a tad on the early side.

I agree, still really young to be sitting unassisted. Have you tried them in a bumbo yet?
