DD's are now 9 months old and are little movers and shakers. DD1 is crawling all over the place and DD2 is crawling, but backwards! LOL!! As of last week, DD1 has learned how to sit up from a laying down position and to pull her self to a standing position in her crib. This freaks me out b/c I'm terrified she's going to topple over to the floor. The mattress is at the next to the lowest setting and she can still see over the top of the crib. I still have her bumper on her crib, but I think I need to take it off b/c she is using it to help pull herself up. Last night I put them to bed at their usual time and she spent over a hour playing w/ her lovies, talking to them, and sitting and standing in her crib. It was so stinkin' cute, but scary at the same time.

What do they sleep in? I have used sleep sacs with all my kids and it keeps them from being able to climb/fall out. Even my son, who was 2 when we moved him out of his crib and a real little monkey, could never manage to get both his legs up and over the crib rail because of the sac. Could work to give you some peace of mind.

we used sleep sacs as well, up until 2, both to prevent climbing and to replace blankets to keep them warm at night. Some kids are climbers and will get out of the crib no matter what. My girls have still never tried to climb out (knock on wood), they still just call for me or fool around together. I kind of think twins might be less inclined to climb out b/c they are not alone in the room, whereas a singleton might know that everyone is somewhere else and try to get out.

you could also try the breathable bumpers, they collapse down so they can't be used to climb. GL

I'd take out the bumpers and put the matress at the lowest setting. Mine started standing in their cribs at about 8-9 months and I was terrified that it wouldn't be long before we had them climbing.. but they're 19 months now and haven't even tried. We also use sleep sacks which limits their mobility a lot.

Our boys started standing in their cribs around 8 months, but have never climbed out. We don't have bumpers, though, and we have the mattress on the lowest setting. I would probably get rid of the bumpers if I were you - I do think ours would try to climb out if they had a bumper to stand on.

Definitely take out the bumpers and drop the mattress to the lowest setting.

I would definitely lower the mattress to the lowest setting. I didn't take out the bumpers from any of the cribs, but my kids were never climbers. If they were, I would have(or if I caught them in the act!).
