I thought that I was doing a good thing by starting my twins with sippys when they were 6months old. At the time I only gave juice or water from them and they had formula from bottles. Now that they're 11 months and about to start whole milk, I thought it might be time to get rid of bottles all together. But there's one big problem----they absolutely refuse to drink anything that resembles formula or milk from their sippys!!!! I have been trying for 2 weeks already and still no go. Anybody have any ideas of how to get past this????

I'm not sure, but you might try occasionally giving them a small amount of really watered down milk (more water than milk) in the sippy, then after they get used to it gradually increase the milk & decrease the water? Just a thought. Good luck! [IMG]

With my 2 year old, I transitioned her from bottles to Nuby sippy cups. I used those cups exclusively for milk. We had different types of sippy cups for juice and water.

Ok so I obviously have no advice since mine are 6 months but thanks for posting this! I just started my girls practicing with sippys, so I'll make sure to put some formula in there gradually so they get used to it between now and then. See how your question helped me? THANKS!! [IMG]

A wise friend advised me not to give juice until they could drink milk from a sippy for the reason that once they got juice, they wouldn't want to "work" for the milk. I would stop giving juice for a while, unless they need it for something like constipation, and just offer milk or water.

Also, for what its worth, mine didn't really drink from a sippy until I took away the bottle.

What kind of sippies are you using?

I never gave juice in a sippy until right at 12 months when they switched from the bottle to sippies cold turkey. I always had their juice in a bottle...

I would try formula in a nuby, since it is soft like a bottle nipple, and when you give juice put it in a hard spout sippy.

    Keep us updated.

Looking back, I wish I had waited on the sippys. Not only have I been scrubbing bottles and nipples all day, but sippys and all the pieces that come with them too(no dishwasher). Think of all that extra "me" time I missed out on [IMG]

I have tried nuby cups(I must own every sippy cup ever made). They can smell it coming a mile away.lol.
