I know I was bad and I wasn't as good at offering consistantly the sippy from earlier on, but we've been trying to get this figured out so they're not on bottles TOO much longer. After trying the Avent- those didn't work, the TakeNToss- they MOSTLY figured those out, but they're too messy for me to handle, I tried the Nuby cup- and aha! BOTH boys figured this one out right away. Well little Joel is much better at getting the water out of both the TNT and the Nuby but he will not swallow. He just spits the water back out! :nea: How on earth can I transition them when he's not actually drinking?!? Any thoughts? Thanks!!!

Marissa - instead of putting water in it, try putting his favorite juice and give it to him when he's "actually" thirsty. Soon he'll get the hang of it and not play with the drink. :p

We're using the Nuby ones too - it's just been a process . . . Kellen has it down and will drink from the sippy pretty much whenever, but Colby has his good days and bad days. It's taken us awhile to get here though - we put formula in the sippy b/c neither one "loves" the taste of water yet, but they will drink formula (obviously)

We put watered down juice in their sippies and they're finally starting to drink it. I usually offer them the sippies around snack time when I know they are hungry. They are finally interested in holding them!!

We did milk in sippies, formula in bottles, and that seemed to help with the transition for us. They really wanted to drink the milk, since it was new and they liked it. Hang in there - they'll get it.

For us, the issue was temperature-- if the liquid (usually water) is not ice cold, it comes rolling right back out of Jackson's mouth.

This may or may not help....

I went from bottles and formula to the Nuby sippies with milk. Emma was the challenge with sippy cups and the first couple of days she didn't drink much but she figured it out once she was thirsty enough. So, maybe you can try some formula (if that's what they are drinking now) in it.

Mine didn't really "get" sippies until we tool away the bottles. A friend of mine advised not to give juice until they drink milk from the sippy. Milk is harder to drink then juice, and if they are used to juice in the sippy, they really don't want to bother with the milk. I would do as the pp suggested and just give milk or formula in the sippy--they will get it!
