When did you start introducing the sippy cup? What did you put in it? When did you transition from the bottle to the sippy cup fully?

Also, when do you introduce any fruit juices?

I forgot to ask my pedi these questions yesterday at our 6 mo visit...

    Thanks!

I started by just putting water in the sippy cups to get them to start using them. At about 9 months, we started putting whole milk in the cups. I think with the twins, they probably didn't have juice until they were about 20 months old and with Liam it was probably 12 months.

I think we started putting water in their sippy cups at around 6 months. I had to feed it to them though. It's just recently that they have been able to tip it up into their mouth on their own.

When did you start introducing the sippy cup? We started the sippy cup about 8 months and are completely proficient with them!
What did you put in it? We put about 1oz juice and 3oz of water. I fill their cups at the beginning of each day and they are gone by evening.
When did you transition from the bottle to the sippy cup fully? We havent done this yet, my bottlefed baby still gets 4 bottles a day. Once we get the OK to do whole milk I will probably drop 1 bottle a week and replace with milk in the cup.
Also, when do you introduce any fruit juices? again at 8 months, 1oz in their cup for flavor :)

We started the sippy cup at 6 months just for practice then by 11 months they were drinking out of them constantly in addition to their bottles WE are just down to two bottles a day and I want to get them off of them completely. I know everyone told me the nuby soft spout was good and they do like it but it is the same as a bottle to me (the soft spout and the method of cleaning) so I am unsure which ones I will get to put milk in them.

We still only give water, I see no nutritional value of juice and so I am holding them off. They LOVE water and drink it all day so I am happy with that. But that is just us

We started the sippy at 6 months with mainly water and a splash of juice for flavoring. I am trying milk in the sippies now and they really are not going for it. My two do not like change :)

We started with the sippy cups around 10 months. I don't give them juice either because there really is no nutritional value to it. They get water or milk in their cups. They're still using a bottle, but with meals, it's a sippy cup. It didn't take them long to get the hang of it.. Good luck!!

You can start introducing as early as 6 months or so. I began at 8 months. They got the hang of it by 10 months. So at 10 months, we switched from bottles to formula feeding from sippy cups 100%. GL!

I gave my ds the doctor brown's sippy cup at 10 months. He loved it! He would not put it down and I would say that it took him about a week to figure out how to drink from it. The first liquid I put in it was whole milk. After the twins were born in sept. my ds was 11 months and he regressed back to a bottle. So, I just started slowly substituting his bottle for a sippy cup at first lunch then breakfast then his dinner time drink. one day I just didn't give him a bottle at all and after being thirsty in the evenings for about three days he realized he either drunk out of the cup or be thirsty. Now the only bottles being used in my home are for the twins.

    Let us know what happens!
