My boys started fighting their afternoon bottle a few weeks back to the point that I DREADED that time of day. Finally, I decided to be done with it. They still get their morning bottle & bedtime bottle, each taking about 6-10 oz per bottle.

During the day I went cold turkey with sippy cups. They were NOT happy at first, but after a week, are adjusted QUITE well. They get milk in their cup for all 3 meals & snack.

However, their intake dropped greatly. Instead of getting water with every meal & snack PLUS a bottle, they were now taking in an oz or so of milk per sitting. It wasn't totalling up to what they should've been taking, but I refused to go BACK to the bottle, too!

So, after reading some tips on the 1-4 forum, I bought vanilla flavored Pediasure. I added an oz or 2 to their milk cups & they are in HEAVEN! Aiden CHUGGED 5 oz at lunch (that's more than he usually takes in a DAY) & Conner just downed 7 oz! I am soooo happy! Eventually I'll put less & less of the Pediasure in until it's straight milk. I guess they just needed a little enticing, and luckily, Pediasure is good for you, too!

I just figured I'd pass the pointer on to those moms quickly approaching the sippy cup transition. Once we get our day time sippies more consistent, we'll be dropping our morning bottle. I'm not quite sure when I'LL be ready to drop their bedtime one...then they'll seem too grown up :(!!!

Andrea, That's great news! I'm happy to stuck to it and gave them time to get used to it {and I'm sure the pediasure helped! ;) }

Ohh....that's awsome! And thanks for the tip -- I'll remember that when we start the "sippy" transition!

That's great news! The twins were transitioned to sippies right at 11 months because I, too, dreaded bottle time! There just became a point where they didn't want to sit still long enough to drink one! Glad it's going well for you!

Congratulations on the transition! I wish I had known the Pediasure tricked when we switched to sippies. I went with juice and it worked wonderfully but Pediasure would have been better. :D

    Yay!
I too am starting the transition. But I am transitioning both the cups and the milk at the same time. Bottles at lunch are gone and every bottle or cup has about 3 ounces of whole milk mixed with their formula. I did this with my other three kids too and they all did very well. My first two were off the bottle at 10 months tho and our now 4 year old was off of her bottle at 11 months.

A&A have done very well with any transition they have gone through like paci's, bed to bed's, and our room to their own room. I don't expect any problems but I am prepared lol.
