We've been trying different kinds of sippy cups probably over the last 2 months to get the boys to use them. We found two different kinds that they can drink from. They will drink water from them with no problem, but they scream if we try to give them formula in the cups. We've tried (and the nanny has tried) over the past 2 weeks at the two middle of the day feedings to give it to them, but they won't take it. We've tried giving the cup first and then the bottle, and we've also tried giving the bottle first and then the sippy cup. Either way they start crying and push it away. Any suggestions on how to get them to drink their formula from it?

My boys wont drink it from a sippy cup either. They drink water all day in their sippy cups so when their is formula in there, they dont like it.

Has your doc given the go ahead for regular milk yet? I would try that instead of the formula.

I agree, we never did formula in them, we always did the formula in the bottles and then changed to milk in sippies with their meals and now, we do milk with meals and in sippies with juice in between times for snacks and drinks....no more bottles here...we were off them at a year old and off milk at 10 months. Saves on buying formula....good luck, i would try switching from formula...

My oldest daughter gave us a problem using the sippy cup. What finally worked for us was to hold her in the same position as we did when giving her a bottle but we used the sippy instead. After that, we had no problems.

Our second daughter was also hard. I started giving her watered down juice in the sippy, which she loved! However, then she would not take ANY milk from the sippy for almost 6 months. With the twins, I will not be giving them anything but formula or milk in the sippy until they have achieved using the sippy cup.

Good Luck!! Every child is definitely different, I hope this helps! Vicki

We never gave formula is a sippy, we gave either water or milk. We gave milk in the morning and for every meal. Maybe your pedi will give you the go ahead to try some milk. HTH

Thanks, ladies. That's a great idea to try the milk in the sippy instead of formula. Especially with the milk being cold and tasting different, I think they may go for it! (At least I hope so.) I'm going to check with my pedi to make sure it's okay to start milk.
