I only have 32 days left on my ticker! :icon_eek: This baby still doesn't have a name and I'm starting to freak out a little! My top choice (Grace Elizabeth) is still a "no go" with DH. Abby and Kate have both decided they like Grace too, which is complicating things. Right now, if DH doesn't budge, these are the two names we are deciding between.

    Olivia Rose
    Madeline Elizabeth

We would really like the middle name to be Elizabeth becuase it is a family (me, SIL, & DH's grandmother) middle name. However, we think Olivia Elizabeth doesn't flow well. Rose was one of my grandmother's middle names and we think it fits better.

What is your opinion of these names?

I think they're all beautiful classic names. And I agree that Olivia Rose flows better than Olivia Elizabeth. Have you considered Elizabeth as a first name? There are lots of nicknames for that.

Silly question - Do pronounce Madeline "Mada - lyn" or "Mada - line"

We did consider Elizabeth as a first name. The main problem was all of the nicknames that went with it. I would want to call her Ellie, but we are afraid that she would come home someday and want to be called Lizzie or some other nickname that we don't like.

    We would pronounce it Mada-lyn.

I would go with Madelyn Elizabeth. Your other girls have longer names with nicknames so I think that would fit in better than Olivia.

I agree with this. I think that Madeline goes better with your other girls names, too. I think it's neat that they would all have nicknames.

I think Grace fits perfect with abby and kate... After months of name games I just decided my sons name a few days ago... DH said no but I told him he will get used to it and now he likes it. :) haha now that I think of it same happened with our daughters name... :D

...but since your husband has vetoed Grace umm Olivia Rose (nick names Oli oh-lee or Ollie Ah-lee) Olivia is a family name and we thought about it as well.

Elizabeth (ellie) rose but we vetoed several names because of potential nicknames. We like Ellie and Edie as well.

And what nick name are you thinking for Madeline?? Madie

Yes, we would probably call her Maddie.

Why does this have to be so hard??????

Because it needs to be perfect... names mean a lot!!!! It took me and DH forever to get ours picked out! We wanted the names to have good meanings as well. Meanings like, strong passionate, and enthusiastic... the middle names are names in honor of family members. With us, we found their name and then there were signs that just tell us it was the right name. ie I decided I liked a name for our son (when I found it my son started moving and we had been worrying about him being inactive), I told my husband the name and he said no and I was like what ever you will get used to it... he turned on a show we would never watch to find a name and a persons last name was the name I just picked out and it had the meaning we were looking for. Similar with daughters name. It took a while but we are happy that we finally settled on their names and we are done with the name game. When it is perfect you will know and sometimes husbands need convincing haha. :D

    I love the name Maddie!

I've been having the hardest time with names. I like to write stories and I can come up with a whole cast of characters in no time, but when it comes to naming my own children its a whole new game. If only my DH wouldn't be so picky!

How crazy! Two of my close friends just had baby girls, one in November and one in January. Their names are Olivia Rose and Madelyn Elizabeth! I think you can't go wrong with either, they are great names.

I am partial to Olivia, but they are both lovely and equally popular.

I think they both sound good. While Olivia Rose does have a nice flow to it, Olivia Elizabeth is just fine. :) There aren't many times in life when she'll use her first + middle name so the "flow" issue is not an problem for some people. Good luck and congratulations on the impending birth!
