For those of you who have used Simply Thick to thicken EBM for reflux, did you find it caused constipation?

I would imagine so. My pedi said that is a concern with starting foods (mine are 4 months) and the thickener would act in the same manner. You might want to mention it to your doctor about using the thickener -- I'm not sure about reflux so early. Alot of babies do spit up at that young age and so "all babies have some form of reflux" (my pedi said) but I wonder about using thickeners so young.

I do remember my babies going from several poops a day to less poops around your babies age as well.

I have read some ideas to help such as : feeding them more upright, putting an angle to your diaper change area (I used folded blankets), keep them upright for 30 mins after a feed, tummy time only on a more empty stomach, some people swear by a formula change, sleeping in a bouncer, swing, carseat, burping baby frequently, medication for reflux.

But I'd really see your Pedi and see what he/she recommends especially at the age they are now. Excessive large amounts of vomiting with "projectile vomiting" maybe pyloric stenosis which is an emergency.

is it the same as Thick It?
    Cornstarch basically?
Beau has been on Thick It for a few years and I've never noticed that. But he started closer to one year old.

They used it in the hospital when they were 4 weeks old, so I'm not concerned about their age. We are under a reflux program run by the children's hospital and they are aware I'm using the thickener. I'm not really asking what to do about the reflux, just if other people who have used the thickener and noticed a change in BM for their kids. I don't remember it causing constipation when they were in the hospital, but that was over 8 weeks ago.
