"Simply Thick".... I have so much(merged threads)

We get a lot of donations here at the Preschool. Sitting here in my office, (which is not that big) I have 13 boxes which contain 200 packets of nectar consistency thickener for kiddos with swallowing difficulties. Our Speech Therapists here have boxes of it everywhere as well. I tried to give some to my local MOM's club, but anyone who uses it gets it shipped directly to them and they usually have a surplus as well. I would love to see it all go to good use before it expires. If any of you need some, PM me and we can work out shipping. Also, if you know of a place that would take this as a donation, I am open to suggestions!

I believe my grandmother needed this when she was in hospice care. Have you considered nursing homes or places that care for the elderly? Dunno, just a thought!

I don't have any ideas for you, but I think it's great that you are willing to share!

 

We alternate that with rice (it costs 1.25 (approx.) per package!!). Do you have a Children's Hospital in your area? What about your EI, do they know of a family in need? I say this because a generous family is giving my family 57 cans of Neosure today (being delivered by my daughters OT).

is this like Thick It? We use that and it's pricey. . . I'd love to get some! Let me know if it's the same/similar.

 

We sold our extra Simply Thick on Ebay. I know you want to donate but you could sell it on ebay and donate the money if you want.

It's pretty much the same, but a quick dissolving gell rather than powder. We like it much better than Thick it and so do the kids who use it. If you want me to just send a few packets rather than a whole box so you can try it, let me know. If you would like a whole box or two, I will split shipping with you. PM me.

 

Thanks ladies! I've gotten lots of responses and will be shipping most of them off this Thursday. I LOVE to see stuff going to those who need it!!

Kiddos with swallowing difficulties, especially preemies, are at risk to aspirate or inhale thin liquids while eating/drinking. This stuff is a quick dissolving gel with no taste that thickens the liquid to a consistency that is easier for the kids to drink without problems.

 

How generous--I have noone who needs it but thanks for thinking of others!!

i know im too late to get any but thanks for sharing i didnt know this stuff existed! DS does well with baby food in a bottle, and used to take rice cereal in a bottle but now gags on it. i think when its thicker he does better, im gonna try some!
