We have been using Enfamil Gentlease up until now and switched to Similac Sensitive through our ped suggestion. We just made a batch and were shocked to see the foam TON of it. What is up with that? Does anyone know how to solve the problem?

When we were on Similac Sensitive we only bought the ready made. It was only slightly more than the powder, if we did the math right :). I would try adding simethicone drops to reduce the foam. That usually quickly gets rid of any bubbles.

I second putting a few gas drops in with the formula (then swirl/stir the formula gently). My son switched over to Similac Senitive after Alimentum and that's what works for us.

I agree with adding the gas drops to it. We mainly used the ready made but adding the gas drops should help the foam out. Good luck!

I know what you mean! One of our twins is on SS and the other is on Alimentum. The difference after shaking the bottles is amazing - SS is very frothy. We also use the RTF formulation, but it does the same thing. We just try to do more of a swirl motion when shaking it, rather than an up-down. And when we're making it from scratch with powder, we make it in large batches using the Dr. Brown's formula mixing pitcher so the froth has a chance to settle before we put it in the bottle.

I greatly prefer the generic version of similac sensitive. It has much, much less foam and also mixes smoother. I actually started with the generic and just recently had to buy a can of similac and was surprised at the difference. I make sure I have enough of the generic now. We use the generic from Target, Walmart or BRU as they are all made by the same company.
