Just wondering if anyone can answer a few questions about this formula. Currently my dd is on alimentum (reflux issues) but her endoscopy showed no allergies and it really didnt seem to make a difference what formula she was on so we would like to try this formula. Per pedi/GI reccomendation we thickened dd's formula, we got up to about 2tsp per oz which seemed to help. Well, now she is seeing an occupational therapist for feeding issues that developed due to her reflux. OT wants us to get thickness down, which I think dd would be fine with now. So, just wondering...how thick is this formula? Currently her nipples are cut because the formula is so thick, will I be able to use a normal nipple? Also, I was at target and noticed there is a powder (I thought it only came in ready made) so I bought the powder...anyone try it? Is it really foamy?

I use the Similac Sensitive in the can but it does not have the rice starch in it. . . I still have to add rice cereal for my LO's reflux. I didn't know the Similac Sensitive R.S. now comes in powder! That is exciting! I have used the Ready to feed Similac Sensitive R.S., and its not too thick. I think it worked great, but it is too expensive in the Ready to feed bottles to keep up with that. I used it the weekend of my brother's wedding, when we were busy with wedding stuff all weekend and it was so much easier than trying to mix formula for every bottle! I used size 3 nipples with our Dr. Brown bottles and it was fine :) . Sometimes when I am making the regular Similac Sensitive it foams a little when stirring but I do not have a problem with foaming other than that. . . Good Luck!

For a while I used 1/2 Infamil AR [added rice - starch] and 1/2 simliac sensitive. My DD2 had Acid Reflux for about a month when she was 2 months old. It seemed to do the trick. My DD1 didn't have Acid Reflux, but did vomit almost every time after feedings, but the AR helped with that also.

Now we are on just similac sensitive and they have done well with it.

I've noticed the Infamil AR was foamy during feedings [you could see it in the bottle] but it never gave my girls any gassy problems. The Similac Sensitive is foamy during mixing it, but during feedings it's not. What I do is make a big batch [usually 24 oz at a time] and after I'm done shaking all of it, let it sit for a couple minutes and then scoop out the foamy stuff on top then pour the bottles. It works well for us ^_^
