Silly thing they like

I just wanted to share a silly thing the girls like that keeps them entertained. They like for me to cut out pictures from catalogs, magazines, packages, and then they play with the cut outs. For instance, I cut out a bunch of dolls and their accesories (like beds) from the American Girl catalog and they played with them almost all afternoon. Today I cut out the pictures of cupcakes and the pillsbury dough boy on the cake mix box, and they played with them while the cupcakes baked. Yay fir cheap entertainment!

Very cool, Kelly! I should do stuff like that more often. My girls wanted a prince to play with their princesses, so I looked online and printed out a picture of a prince and cut it out. They played with that thing for weeks and would even cry if they couldn't find. Then my neighbor got them a real toy prince and they were finished with it, but it was hilarious to see them carry that picture around.

 

That's a great idea!

Amy and Sarah had an excellent time last night making baby doll "diapers" out of wrapping paper. They looked nothing like diapers, and the dolls weren't even part of the game -- it was just all about cutting wrapping paper and then taping it into something that looked vaguely like a diaper. Kept them busy for half an hour (though I did have to sacrifice a roll of cheap wrapping paper).

I have to give the credit to Ainsley and Bea for thinking it up! They love looking at catalogs especially, and asked me to cut things out for them. Hey, if they are happy playing with pictures of American Girl dolls instead of the real ($$$$!!!) ones, then I'm happy too!

OOOh, if anyone is looking for awesome clean (no ink!) newsprint for drawing, public storage has boxes of it for sale in their moving supplies. 10 pounds for $10. And it's full size newsprint.

 

Hey at least its saving you money. Its awesome though how they can make their own fun. I remember doing similar stuff like making hats and clothes out of paper when we were little.
