My son, Jack (10 and a half months old) loves to empty things...magazine holder, cd holder, toy basket, etc... He emptys EVERYTHING!
Is that normal? It seems a bit compulsive but I am sure it is totally normal, just wanted to check.

    Thanks!

yes, sooo normal. He's probably curious, that's the curious stage. From what I've seen with my nephew whose two -that stage just gets worse :)

Before you know it, he'll be taking apart your DVD player just to see how it works LOL :D

Yes, it's a good, normal thing for kids to do. He's learning cause-and-effect. If I tip this over, those fall out. If I remove these, then this is empty. (etc)

Yup normal!!! Wait until he realizes that he can dump things out and use the container to climb up on things (the innocent toy bins in my living room are used in the grand escape plan right now).

Same thing here. My girls love to empty things and knock things over. Anything within reach is a target. The favorite has been folded up clothes on a shelf. They love love love love to pull the clothes off and throw them in a pile on the floor. In the past few weeks they have started to put things back together and build things, so perhaps it's just a (very long) phase!

Totally normal -- and my DDs are still doing it at 2.5. :D (But somewhere along the way, they learned to fill things as well as empty them!)

I've always wondered what the fascination is, but it's obviously a deeply ingrained human urge.

Oh yeah. It gets even better. As I type, I am procrastinating going into the bedroom to pick up the sea of clothes on the floor, because the babies have learned that they can take EVERY SINGLE THING out of the dresser. <_<

(And if that's the price of having quiet, entertained babies, I just let it slide!!! )

Very very normal. That was my older DD's favorite thing to do. She still loves to do stuff like that sometimes. I know I thought the same thing when she was that age.

[SIZE=10pt]I could have written this post ~

DH and I were just laughing over DS this evening. His newest thing is emptying everything and knocking anything and everything over. When they took their last nap I 'set' the living room up. Stacked their blocks, put the balls in a row, etc ~ within a minute or two he knocked everything down. When he's done he just gives us the cutest look too  Lil stinker!!

    April :)
