Silly question about PNP

    Hi,
I'm new here (relatively.) I am due in early October and we're trying to figure out sleeping arrangements. We have a small room off of our bedroom where we'd like the babies to sleep since I'm going to attempt BF'ing and their nursery will be downstairs. A pack and play seems to be a popular option - here is my silly question. When people say that their babies slept in a PNP - do they mean the type with a bassinet on top where they both can sleep or simply on the mattress in the PNP? Sorry if I'm being dense - I've just read the weight limits for the bassinet on top and that doesn't seem like an option that will last me for long.

    Thanks for the help.

When I had the twins, they didn't make the bassinet for two (and that was only two years ago). We had the twins in a portable crib that my mom had at the time, because it was higher (with the c-section, I couldn't bend down into the crib to get them). When they were in the PNP, we kept them on the bottom. My twins probably took 3 months or more to get to the total weight limit, so it could still be an option for you depending on how big your twins are.

We used a PNP, and they slept in the bassinet part. It is removeable. It says it can only hold 15 lbs, but that is a lie ;) I used it with Jack a few nights in a hotel room when he was 6 months old.

We used a PNP in our room for the first 3 months. They slept in the bassinet part (the higher insert) first and I don't know at what point we moved them. I think we moved them when they hit the weight limit and/or when it started sagging! ;) Then they slept in the bottom part until they were too long to fit into it width wise.

Good luck. Oh, and don't worry...no question is a stupid question. We have all been there and it was all new to us at one point.

If you buy a good quality pack and play they can sleep in the bassinet on the top for quite a while - the weight limit on the good ones is a bit higher and it's very conservative so you can go over it without worry. My boys were 6 lbs, 2 oz. and 6 lb, 9 oz and were able to sleep side-by-side short ways for a long, long time. I didn't buy any kind of special "twin" model.

I too used the Graco pack n play with the bassinet that covers the top, not the one made specifically for twins. We chose to move them to their cribs around 7 weeks because Lauren was a wiggle worm and Emma needs her own space.

We had the boys in the bassinet part of the PNP for about 3-4 months. The recommended weight limit is VERY conservative...when they were first home they would only sleep in the car seats and I had a c-sect so I couldn't bend over. DH put both babies in their car seats (I think we will all concede that must have been over 15 lbs- the boys were 5.7 and 6.12 alone and those darned seats are HEAVY) in the top and we had no sagging.

Good luck with the next few months...

When I joined, I already had 2 boys so it really wasn't ALL new but you shoulda heard some of my ???. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask and never get an answer to.

The pnp I had had the changing table top not the bassinet. I loved it! They slept in the bottom from the beginning. I kept it in the living room for naps etc. I used the top in the living room to change diapers which saved a few trips to their bedroom to the changing table.

we co-slept our babies in our bed for the first 2 mos and then used a crib at hte end of our bed for a few more months. I did investigate an Arm's reach co-sleeper (which can act as a PNP) it's weight limit may be a little higher.

Thanks - we're going to try the original co-sleeper as a bassinet - the weight limit is higher. It was that or the pnp - a toss of the coin made the decision :)

I used the Original Co-Sleeper with my twins I think it went to 30lbs.
Graco has a double bassinet PNP now. It's also up to 30lbs.
