    Hi All,

We just ordered our toddler beds (www.toddlerbeds.com) but I have what amounts to a silly concern. My kids still seem to squirrel about when they sleep. Has anyone had their children fall out of the bed because of this? I SO want this to be a positive experience! Kayla does not think this is cool despite the princess bed. Aidan, on the other hand, is pretty excited about his fire truck bed! Thanks for your input!

I had bedrails at first. When I took them off both K&K each fell out of bed once. It wasn't a huge deal, it startled them for a second but they went right back to bed. I think it is important to make sure there is nothing near the beds in case they do fall off, you don't want them to bump on anything.

My girls had all fallen out of their toddler beds. We had the wooden kind that had a guardrail on each side that went about 1/2 the length of the bed, but they are such active sleepers that they'd inch down, and we'd find them on the floor quite often. I'm not sure if the kind you are ordering have any type of rails or anything like that? But, the good news is that most toddler beds are not very high off the ground, so if they do manage to wiggle out of the bed, the fall is very minimal. In the beginning, with my first DD, I'd line up some pillows on the floor next to the bed, but she never got hurt by falling out of her toddler bed.

    HTH a little!

They have fallen out of bed alot. Sarah who is 7 still falls out occassionally. Lauren falls out everynight. She never stays put long enough. So we put a crib mattress on there floor to break the fall.

Some kids just never stay put even when older.

We just switched to toddler beds last week. Matthew has fallen out almost every night....last night was the first night he didn't. This was even with rails. It just startled him. I go in and put him back in bed and it's fine. They are so low to the ground, it would be hard to do any damage.

Usually we have at least one fall every night. We have them in twin beds without boxsprings, so they are closer to the floor. And then we put the crib mattresses on teh floor in case they roll off. Side rails would be great too, but we just never got around to getting them.

I moved my babies to twin beds from cribs shortly after their 2nd birthday. I think, we have only had 1-2 incidents of anyone falling out of their beds since (7 months ago)

We moved the girls to toddler beds at 3.5 years. They were still moving all over their cribs at that point and you'd find them in a different area of the crib every morning. When we switched to toddler beds, I couldn't figure out how to put the rails on so I left them off the first night with the full belief that they'd both fall out with a couple of hours of bedtime. It's been nearly 2 months now and they actually haven't fallen out once. Maybe, even in their sleep, they realize that the rail isn't there to keep them in bed and they stay put a little better. Since moving to toddler beds they aren't nearly as wriggly as they used to be.
