Hi all! This coming summer is the first summer both my boys will be walking at all or really well -- they'll be 2 years in June. I want to get them sandals for summer but wonder how they will do with them. Did you little ons stub their toes a lot in open toe sandals? I wasn't planning to spend a ton of money on them but I ended up seeing these sandals from Stride Rite. Maybe I could find them at a buy one get half off the other sale :).

What would you/are you doing for sandals for your little ones this year?

    TIA
    Mendy

Those are cute. I like the closed toe idea! But my mom got some at target for $4 each that looked a lot like those but open toe. My boys wore them fine for our trip to FL last week. No toe stubs or anything. The key is all 3 straps are adjustable. The back for ankle, the front for toes and the middle for front of ankle!

I am very frugal and have a hard time paying $50 or more for shoes that they will outgrow in 3-6 months. As I am sure these size 6 sandals I mentioned above, will not fit this summer [IMG]

    Those are nice!!!

We bought some sandals for the kids last summer at Stride Rite on sale and they were both open-toed. We only had one incident of stubbed-toes when the neighbor kid pushed Hannah too fast in her Cozy Coupe car. Ouch! But that was because I was not watching closely enough.

Otherwise, we were fine with the open toed sandals and will purchase some again (from Stride Rite) when it starts to warm up a bit. I like the Stride Rite because the soles are leather. When the kids play and their feet sweat, their feet don't slip all over the place because the leather absorbs the sweat! Hannah had some cheapies with a vinyl sole and her poor little feet were so sweaty that her entire foot slipped out the front of her sandal. We never put them on her again!

We LOVE Teva sandals for our kids. Every time I purchase another brand I regret it - I end up buying at least one other pair during the summer. The Teva's are easy to get on and off, adjust easily, can be worn in the water and sand, and are easy to clean (I just toss mine in the washer once a week or so - although I'm sure the manufacturer wouldn't recommend it! Anyhow, I found these on Reioutlet.com. They also have a closed toe style, but I think they would be too big for your twins.

Andrew had thesesandals from Stride Rite last year. They were more for dress up, but I liked the closed toe. The problem with playing in sandals is that they get alot of gravel, mulch, etc. in there and get mad about it. So we always wore sneakers to the park or to play outside. We did have a pair of beach/pool sandals from old navy that we wore to get wet though. They were nice for sand/water play or going to the pool. They were open toe and they did stub their toes a bit in them. The ones you linked look like a good play sandal, nice alternative to sneakers.

I have never had a problem with target's velcro sandals slipping or making my kids feet sweat. They look just like the columbia brand and have a soft water aborbant sole.

My DD discovered flip-flops last summer (they were just 2). Anyway, before long that was all she wanted to wear & then her brother wanted them too. Surprisingly, they wore them very well. She can even run in them!! I ended up hiding them when the weather cooled off & she cried for days for her "loppas".

we love love love the Sandals from Landsend. They are about $17.50 a pair and though they aren't totally closed toe, they way they are designed really protected my daughters tootsies. We really really liked them.
