Okay, so it's 3:00 in the morning and we are getting up at 5 to be ready by 6, to leave for The Cleveland Clinic and be there by 8. They boys have their MRI. Yesterday evening, my SIL (whome i have never had problems with before) asked if my DH and I would watch her kids (5 year old and brand new baby - 2 weeks old) b/c she wanted to go out and drink with her friends (she said when she was pg that she was done going out and drinking....) We also told her that we had to be up early for the boys and she said she understood. Soooo.....fast forward to now. DH and I are sleeping. We get a call from one of her friends that she's being held by the State Highway Patroll for DUI and needs to be picked up. Granted she's not being arrested b/c she was cooperating but...regardless, DH who would do anything for his sisters has to go and pick her butt up at 3, be home by 5 and help get the boys ready for a long day at Cleveland. Will people ever ever ever grow up? Two kids, 26 years old and she's still making it more imp. to go out and drink? For Pete's sake, her 5 year old rushed into his living room on Easter only to find her friend completely naked, passed out on the floor beside a guy that she had met the previous night. This friend has a 6 year old son too!!! When will they learn? Her son has even said "Mommy didnt buy me anything for supper tonight b/c she doesnt have any money becasue she went to the bar last night." That's rediculous. Ugh, just a middle of the night/morning vent b/c i'm ticked off..... :umm:

she sounds exactly like my sister, she dumps her 2 year ols daughter of my little 15 year ols sister ever weekend so she can go out, she treats the 2 year old like she is 10 years old and all the little girl like's/wants to eat is baked beans!

my sister is 23 (same age as me) and i have to say i am alot more mature, i go out when i have a sitter planed weeks before and its been a long while since that happened.

my niece did get a decent easter though, dont you wish they would just grow up especially once they've had kids for heavens sake!

That is sad! Stories like that break my heart because I am close to a number of hard working, honest, loving, professionals who would give anything in this world to have a baby. If only these girls could walk a day in my friends' shoes, maybe they would think twice about the need to party and be there for their babies.

I hope everything goes well in Cleveland today - good luck!

I would be so annoyed/mad. Is it possible that she may have a true drinking problem???

(Edited to take out the sentence, "maybe she is young and stupid" 26 is really not that young to use age as an 'excuse')

Is she in denial that she has kids now and needs to grow the heck up? I had a "friend" like that, she had a daughter and lived with her mom, and would go out on the weekends, get drunk and snort coke ... I thought she was a terrible mother then and think it's even worse now that I'm a mom myself. It's so selfish and the only ones who get hurt are the ones who don't deserve it at all - the kids. :(

 I am so sorry that she is putting you all in the middle of this, especially right now when you are trying to take care of your little ones! Since your dh would do anything for his sisters, maybe he should seek some help for her. 26 is young, but not THAT young to use as an excuse for stupid thing like this. :hug99:

:umm: What is her problem? Thats just not acceptable. I will NEVER understand how mothers can be so stupid! Sorry but she should have been arrested, she put many peoples lives at risk by drinking and driving, that is NOT acceptable. And about her child on Easter, that is WRONG! Those poor kids, sounds like mommy is an idiot and doesnt care enough about them.

I just had to cry when you reported about easter and about what her little guy said about dinner. Kids are the most important thing in the world - I couldn't imagine not buying food for easter for my kids. My mom was like your SIL - so I know what it is like to come out Christmas morning and find no presents under the tree and your mom passed out on the sofa - especially for the age your nephew is.

    My thoughts as welll!

  15. Have you tried talking to her and telling her what her children are saying? Some people need the obvious pointed out to them. I hope with the DUI she learns a lesson ~ those are quite expensive now! She has put so many people at risk with her irresponsibility....shame on her. At least her babies have you and your DH in their lives....

I completely agree. I have NO patience for people who drink and drive. Were it my sister, I'd've let her dumb a$$ stay there! Even if it meant having her two with me, inconvenient though it may be.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. :hug99:

Those poor kids, I hope they have a lot of positive role models in their lives. Good luck with your appointments.
