Signs that it might be getting time?

I know my girls are young yet but I'm wondering if this is a sign that one of my DDs might be getting ready to potty train. Lately Liberty has been aware of when her diaper is full and needs to be changed. She will grap at her diaper and say dirty. This morning I sat down next to her and said "your stinking!" and she looked at me and say yeah dirty graping at her diaper. Would this be signs that she could be getting ready to potty train or is she too young to really comprehend what to do? TIA

You could offer to sit on the toilet at bathtime or something, but they are aware of their mess not necessarily the URGE to go BEFORE. Keep your eyes out!! Offer the seat before and after bath if they are interested. It'll give you a sense of where they are in the process!

Thank you for the suggestion Diane, I really appreciate the response. That is a really good idea, I'll have to give it a shot. I guess I'll be going shopping soon. :) It really is a surprise to me that she even knows when shes dirty. I really didn't aspect this until at least 18 months, kinda caught me off guard.

I agree with Diane. Make it available, but don't push it. Before bath time and the morning diaper change are two great times to take advantange of potty time. I have our baby potty in our master bathroom (we have a one-story) and so we used to go together all the time (of course, they would sit on the potty in their clothes while I went). One day, Hannah decided she wanted to try it on her own. Ben doesn't even care. But I am hoping with the constant exposure, one day he will just up and use the potty too.

FWIW, Hannah was just over one when she started to tell me that she was wet or poopy. So it took over a year for us to get from that point to potty trained. Ben rarely tells me when he needs a new diaper.

    Exactly.

My guys are JUST now beginning to get it down. Zack has used the potty successfully yesterday and today. Jack on the other hand still isn't getting it, he looks up at me and tells me 'its stuck' when he is trying to pee!! LOL

Thank you everyone. I think I'll get a potty chair and let them sit on it and see how it goes. If they're not ready at least I have the chair for the future. I definitely won't expect them to go, I'll just introduce it and see how they react. I've got a very low expectation about it at this age. :)

My guys didn't like the potty chairs. So I bought the toilet seats that fit into the big toilet seat. It has Sesame Street designs all over it, and they like that so much better! Plus, all you have to do is flush the mess, there is no clean up!! My guys get a little stool and push it up and climb right up!!
