Signs of Preterm Labor

:ibiggrin: Hey! I am just curious and was wondering if any moms expecting twins are or have been experiencing any of the sytmptoms I have been lately. Let me start off by giving a little background on myself. I am currently 32 wks and 2 days expecting Identical Twin BOYS!! I went to the doctor today and he did the qutip test to check for preterm labor (which came back neg) and checked my cervix and said I was 1cm dilated. I have been having cramping, contractions (some painful some not), back pain, increase vomitting, my pelvic bone is popping everytime I try to roll over in bed. I was just wondering what some of the other moms are experienceing as this is my first pregnany. I look forward to hearing from all the other moms

 

At 32 weeks, I was admitted to the hospital because I was having consistent contractions during my NST. I, too, tested negative for my FFN test and was 1cm. Since I didn't progress any further, they let me go home. I kept those girls in without bedrest until 36 weeks and 5 days I had consistent, but most not painful contractions for over 4 weeks without any problems.

It sounds like PTL but it could also be just regular Twin pregnancy issues. I had PTL at 24 weeks, and was put on meds to stop contractions until 36 weeks. I was 2 cm dialted and 60% effaced at 24 weeks and made it to my scheduled section at 37 weeks 1day

 

Hi i am 28 weeks with my identical boys and experiencing a lot of the same things you are, except the vomitting..luckily that all stopped for me after the 4th month and two hospital visits for dehydration and kidney infections.. yuck. my last doc visit was at 26 wks and i was told i hadnt dialated yet so keep us informed with how yours is going..i dont see doc again for two weeks and pains seems to be coming more often, i may have to go in before visit..although mine seem different than contractions i felt before, last night i got what felt like a contraction but then it was just constant pain for about an hour or so..

 

First off, :welcome: to TS and congrats! I've been dealing with some of those issues but I've been put on modified bedrest since 28 weeks, I'm 33 weeks with fraternal boy/girl twins. I would keep an eye on the contractions, if there is any pattern to them, and of course if you are concerned call your doc again and get in with him or go to L&D, one thing I've learned with this pregnancy is you can never be too careful, listen to your body, if it's saying there's an issue, then get it checked out.

Just an update on my story. I am now 34 wks and 2 days. All my symptoms are still the same however my Bp keeps going up. Today was 148/100.. And I'm having headaches that aren't going away. Dr said today I may be delivering as early as next week if we can't get my Bp under control bc he is concerned I may have a seizure. He said the good news is that the servival rate is the same at 34 wks as one who delivers at 39 wks. Has put me on bed rest and I have to get more blood work done on Tuesday. He told me if my headaches dont go away I need to go up to the hospital!

Have you done the 24hr urine test yet? My BP was high last week and I had to do blood work and rhe 24 hr urine test to test the protein levels in my urine bc he was worried about preeclampsia, he said if ir was all positive id be delivering at 34 weeks, luckily blood work and urine test was fine and my bp was fine, although im still on modified bed rest. I guess your risks of having it in a twins pregnancy are higher than a single.

Well I have now been admitted to the hospital. My headaches still haven't gone away and Bp is still going up. When I got to hospital I had a small amount of protein so they are keeping me and having me do a 24 hr urine test. They did blood work and my Uric acid levels are high. Nurse said that's a sign of preeclampsia. The big thing will be when my urine test comes back.

 

Everyone was amazed I made it as far as I did. I was admitted a total of 5 times for PTL.

 

Hopefully it's not Pre E, but am glad that you Doctor is on top of things. Making it to 34 weeks is awesome if you do have to have them early. They'll be fine.

 

I was lucky and was able to do all my tests outpatient but then again I wasn't having the headaches and BP issues like you. Sounds to me like your doctor is being proactive. My doc has said the entire time as long as I get to 34 weeks the babies will be fine. Just rest (as much as you can in a hospital). Good luck!

L&B .... how are you doing??? I was just think about you and wanted to see how you were and if the docs determined if it was pre e or not.

 

Dr delivered me Friday night! Dx me with Pre e.. Boys are doing good in the nicu weighed 4.13 and 4.5 was 17 in and 17 1/2 in I will be discharged this evening. Gonna be hard going home with out my babies!!!

 

Thats great that they're doing good, stinks you have to go home. How long will they be in the nicu?
