My SIL uses sign language with her baby who is now 18 months she started around 6-7 months..she says it's a great way to communicate with your baby and they pick up on it really fast... I personally haven't done it with mine yet but the results with her daughter are amazing..I'm looking into doing it with my girls if I can pick it up quick enough myself..Lol..

Anyone else doing it with the babies and how is it working out for you?

I took a Sign and Sing Kindermusik class with my older DD about 2 years ago. She had just turned one. It was amazing how fast she caught on and we avoided alot of communication issues over what she wanted. She also was not a delayed talker, in fact her language took off. I am just starting to do the basic signs of more, all done, doggie, and they just stare at me.

I am doing some simple words with my girls...eat, more, all done, drink, cat, mommy, daddy, and more I can't think of right now.

Mine sign. Not too much, and mostly to help with meal times. They say "more" "all done" "drink" "thank you" "please"...I can't think of any others right now. Most of our signs I learned from the Baby Einstein Baby Sign DVD adn then just used over and over. We use mostly food because my dd has had such issues with food. She had severe reflux and used to scream during meal times and that would lead to choking! The day we had to do the heimlich over and over to get the food out of her airway we began to sign! SCARY!
So now we have been signing for about 6 months. At first my son picked them up right away and loved using them. My dd would use them occasionally, but she is stubborn. About a month ago she started using them constantly.
I will say that my twins are technically "speech delayed" but I don't think it is due to the signing. Our dr says that twins are typically speech delayed. We might end up in speech after our OCT dr appt, but it doesn't bother me. I am just glad we found a method for communicating that is NOT screaming during meal time!
    Good Luck!

I try to sign with them, but they don't do much. I think they know what I mean because they smile as I'm asking them questions while I sign, but they don't sign much. I just do it at mealtimes. My other two did it, and was great. Good luck!
