Hi, I'm new at this. But I need to talk to someone that have the same problem that I'm having now.
I'm 5 months pregnant with twins and I always thought that I have fraternal twins since my Aunt and my sister had fraternal twins. Now I'm not sure and I don't understand why my doctor can't tell me that yet. My baby A is one week ahead weight 1 lb. and my baby B is two week behind and weight only 6 oz. My doctor told me I might have the twin to twin tranfustion syndrome TTTS which they might share a placenta. But he need to check closely. The worst case is when they can not make it since baby A have too much and Baby B don't have enough. I can't stop crying day and night and still not sure if I really have the TTTS. I am so scared.

:hug99: Firstly relax! and try staying calm! Pray to god! things will be different! it is common for one baby to be ahead in weight compared to the another. When does you doc see you again? ask all questions! If it TTS , i am sure there is loads of help on the board in twinstuff! maybe they were just not able to find it properly. don't worry your doc will be able to help u.

    take care

Take a deep breath and relax, because the last thing you need right now is stress.
I am not sure if you are seeing a Peri, if not, find one in your area, they are more experienced that regular OB's in dealing with twin pregnany and can answer questions and have solutions. There have been many TTTS survivors in this forum, who had major differences in size and weight. I was diagnosed with TTTS and my babies have always had 10-20% weight difference between them (which is normal by the way). Sometimes even fraternals have difference in weight.
Also the weight measurements have and error of 3-4 ounces. They are never exact.
So don't worry. If you can, look for hospitals in your area that have a dedicated team of doctors for high risk pregnancy. It will put your mind at ease knowing that you are getting the best care.
You will great support here. We are all here for you :hug99: . Just dont worry :hug99:
I'll keep you in my thoughts and sending good vibes your way.

My boys are survivors of TTTS. Yes, its scary, I am not going to lie, but wait until you know for sure.
They still have a 4 lb difference, but they are 110% fine. NOT one side effect of being born early with TTTS.

Miracles do happen. Hang in there. :hug99:

I just had TTTS boys about two weeks ago. They are doing well considering they were born at 34w1d. Try to stay positive and get proactive!

Mine were born at 5 lbs. and 6 lbs. 12 oz., and they too always had size/weight differences that were noted since 19w gestation.

I'd definitely suggest you see a perinatologist or MFM (maternal fetal medicine) specialist as soon as you can to help alleviate some of your anxieties and feel like you're doing something to get answers. Have you visited the TTTS Foundation website? (www.tttsfoundation.org) The folks there at the message boards and especially Mary and Dr. DeLia can help answer some questions or encourage you in finding support and medical help. It's worth checking into indeed!

Also, how's your nutrition? Were you sick with morning sickness much during your pregnancy? Malnutrition in the mother has shown to exacerbate the TTTS symptoms, and I think this was partly the case for me. Look into consuming more proteins and drinking the three nutrition shakes (Ensures or Boosts) each day. You'll see this recommended by the TTTS Foundation and other folks pregnant with multiples.

If you do have TTTS, there are therapies and things that can be done to help the situation. . .

Thinking of you because I know it's a time of anxiety when you start hearing such things a your appointments. . . :hug99:

LISTEN TO ALL THE GOOD ADVICE ON HERE, YOU'LL NEED IT. TTTS IS DEALT WITH SO OFTEN NOW, BUT DO MAKE SURE YOU ARE SEEING A PERINATAL, AND PUT YOURSELF ON BEDREST IF NEED BE. MINE ARE NOW 9 MONTHS OLD, THEY DID NOT HAVE TTTS BUT ONE OF MY GIRLS HAD IUGR WHICH CAUSED HER TO BE ALMOST 1 LB. SMALLER. THEY WERE BORN VERY EARLY DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, BUT THEY ARE HEALTHY AND EVEN DRIVING ME CRAZY NOW. YOU HANG IN THERE, STAY POSSITIVE, AND REST, REST, REST ON YOUR LEFT SIDE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. AND EAT!!!! GOOD LUCK AND KEEP US POSTED.

Thank you ladies for your support. Found out I have frat twins and don't have TTTS. Now that I am 6 months, my baby B had gave up and can not find her heart beat due to generic problems. It's been very hard for me. I can't stop crying everyday thinking that she is gone. What happens now is that we are putting baby A in full term before I deliver both of them. I never though such things can happen in mid pregnancy.

I am very sad that Baby B is no longer with me but I have to be strong for baby A. And hopefully everything is smooth from here. This past few days I realize I've been spotting and that really worries me again. I called my doctor and she is going to call me back today and hopefully everything is ok.

My fraternal twins always had a weight difference. I knew they were fraternal because they are boy and girl. But there was always a significant weight difference, and they were watched closely (ultrasounds every 2 weeks). We were very worried about Baby B (my daughter) because she wasn't as big as my son and wasn't gaining as much. And they turned out just fine. She is just smaller than him- and actually he had to be in the NICU for a week for a lung issue while she came home with me. So know that if they are fraternal it may just be that one is smaller than the other and they could be just fine.
