A couple months ago I posted here asking about good sign language videos. I purchased it and have been doing some signs with the boys.

Today at PT, while Seamus was on the excercise ball, he did the 'all done' sign. I was shocked. Usually it is prompted by me while they are sitting in their high chair. When they run out of food, I say, "all done" and we all wiggle our fingers. To see him do it during PT was hillarious! The therapists were shocked!

When we started, my husbands thoughts were, "What is the point? By time they can learn SL, they will be able to talk". He has seen them do it when I prompt them and now thinks it is so cool but was blown away when I called to tell him today!

    I had to share!

That's cool. How old were they when you started?

That's funny - we do the "all done" sign like "no more" - slicing your hands, like "finished!". I was "reviewing" signs with my daughter the other day and asked her what that one meant and she said, "No Deal!" Okay, no more TV for her!

Babies can learn sign language way before they can talk. That's so neat that he said All Done!

We started at 5 months old. I bought the Baby Signing Time set from http://www.signingtime.com/

We have not really used the tapes yet. We watched it once but they were not completely interested. That was at 5 months and I only gave it one try. I got about 5 basic signs that I wanted to show them and then I teach them throughout the day. I am going to try the videos with them again this week. The videos are really cute!

    that's too cute!
I love signing! My girls have all been signers. My first knew 17 signs before she became a more proficient talker at 15mo. My twins are on their ways as well!

so, since the correct sign was shown that he wanted to be done on the ball......did you have the therapist take him off or just ignore the sign that he flashed? I am curious, because we have the twins signing too, and I try to act on the sign when they sign it correctly....I have asked our PT to move on to something else when Kyle signs that he is done with the activity.......just wondering what others do in the same situation.

I dont know why I am laughing...I think because I did not even think about that! Yes, you are right, I should have maybe had the PT move on to something else! We ignored his sign and all laughed at how cute that was! Talk about regression! He is going to think this wiggle of the fingers thing is a hoax!!!!
