I have been so frustrated. My LO got sick last Friday. DD got it Saturday. Both congested, fevers all that fun stuff. I took them in on Monday and got them tested for the swine flu because we actually had a friend of theirs that had gotten it about a month ago. Thankfully that was not the problem. Told us it was viral and it just had to run it's course. DD started getting a real bad cough and being that she already is a bad sleeper the cough just added to horrible sleep. I have spent a lot of time rocking her this past week, so that she is elevated and would sleep. Saturday she was miserable so I took them both in just to make sure no ear infections were there and that her lungs were ok. Said they all looked good. Well, yesterday DS is back to his normal jolly self but DD had been on a down hill slope. Just miserable, only wanting me to hold her, not even her father and sometimes pushing me away and just laying on the floor crying. So we went back to the Ped. and finally they gave us some antibiotics. Said she probably has a sinus infection. They also gave us a decongestant. Well, last night she woke up in at 1:00am and had thrown up...agghhh! Then once again this morning she threw up. The nurse said it is probably from all the mucus dripping down her throat. She ate and drank today and kept everything down so this all seems to make sense. But today, she was EXHAUSTED. She slept most the morning and when she was up she just laid on me and fell back to sleep. I have never seen her like this. She can barley keep her eyes open. It is concerning to me. I mean I know she is tired and fighting an illness but it is pitiful. If she got off of me she would see something fun her brother was doing and a minute later she would be laying on the floor with her blankie. Is this to be expected? Have you guys ever expierienced them being so tired they could barley keep her eyes open all day. What would you do? Do you think I should take her back again or give the antibiotics some more time to kick in?

Poor baby. :( I'm sorry, it's hard to see our little ones feeling so sick and we feel helpless. I only had one time when my ds was so sick he couldn't do anything but lay down or be sleeping and I was concerned myself. I think you should see how she is doing tomorrow and give the antibiotics a chance to kick in. But if you are worried, I'd call your ped. and see what they say. It's best they put your mind at ease.

When my two are sick they become clingy and sleepy. I agree with Liz, you can't ignore mother's intuition and if something doesn't feel right to you-call your pedi. Hope your DD feels better soon

poor girl:( sleep is the best thing for them when they are fighting a nasty flu virus-make sure she still gets some liquids in her but let her sleep as much as she needs:) she'll feel better very soon!

I'd heard that antibiotics can make you really tired. And this is especially true the smaller you are. So hopefully, she'll start getting better soon! But if she doesn't, I'd definitely take her in. If nothing else, it will ease your mind!!
