Showing signs but...they're not talking

My boys are 22 months old and still not talking. I'm not worried about them not talking we did baby sign language so I know they know how to communicate and they are boys and twins so they have the double whammy against them. But they have started to hide when they poo, and they don't like sitting in their poo any more and when they are wet or dirty they try to get the diaper stuff and lie down to have their diaper changed. They also know the sign for potty. We say, "Mommy's in the potty." or "Daddy's in the potty." and they'll do the sign for potty.

I was just wondering if anyone else has tried to start potty training before their kids were talking. Should I start now or should I wait until they can tell me?

My other question is that I'm going on vacation in August for a week. Should I wait to start until after that vacation or should I just start now and know that they may regress during our vacation?

    Thanks.

IMO they seem like they may be a little young to start and going on vacation could hinder any progress that they made if you did start.

OMG, very similiar situation here. My DS is almost 20 mo. and we are leaving for vaca. on Friday. I will be interested to see the responses.

Mine are 23 months old and not talking much (we are in EI program) and so I have not even begun to think about potty training them. I feel that until they can effectively communicate with me, I won't even try. Though DD does hide and squat when she poops so I know when she is going, but with DS he shows no signs until he has already gone.
Look forward to the responses you get.

Being uncomfortable while wet and dirty, is very different from knowing beforehand that they have to go. Yours are very young, and you can try, but don't be disappointed if it doesn't work out.

My untrained daughter(Sydney) asked to go on the potty at 20 months old while on vacation. She peed in the potty about 3 or 4 times over the course of the next two days. I intoduced the potty to them and let them go if they wanted to.
Dani trained at 30 months old and I'm still waiting for Sydney (who will go in public pottys, but likes her pull ups to much)
