Should they have some sort of bike/quad at age 2?

My girls have ride on toys but I wasn't sure when I should buy them something a little more sophisticated....like a battery operated quad or whatever.

 

I, personally, would and did stick with the "man" powered. This work their little bodies and some help balance. Lastly, the battery ones are noisey (neighbor did have one) and our house was noisey enough w/out those!

 

I'm not a fan of the battery powered ones either. It's impt for our kids to exercise. We got the Schwinn Roadster Trikes (from amazon). They are just now starting to enjoy them at 2 yrs 3 months.

 

Grandma got the kids some little battery powered things for Christmas. Not the big ones; these she found for $40 each &run on D batteries. They have a blast with them! They are noisy, though & now that it's warmer they're outside. But now that they're big enough for their tricycles, they really seem to prefer those.

 

Mine got their tricycles at age 2. We have never had battery powered ride ons.

 

Our kids are about the same age - we just purchased trikes and big wheels. We are putting them together this weekend. The box for the big wheels says it's for age 2+ so we'll see how they do!

 

Our kids started on tricycles last year and then during the summer they started riding on the small bikes with training wheels. They still use both. We haven't gotten them any battery powered vehicles yet, although they have tried them with their friends.

I agree, I like the kid-powered vehicles much better. We too got my duo the Schwinn Roadster trikes for their second birthday.
