Should I take them in?

Yesterday Emma had a fever of about 101 and was feeling pretty bad. No other symptoms than the fever - but he just wanted to sit in my lap all night which is rare for her.

Last night she woke - then she woke Mia who was then NOT HAPPY. Mia felt pretty hot Temp of 100) and was up and crabby all night. I ended up sleeping on the couch with her. This morning neither has a fever (Emma normal and Mia 99) and they "seem" to be in good moods. They both feel a little warm to me but I think I may be paranoid.

My DH asked if I was going to take them in to see the pedi today and I said no since their fever seem to be gone (or going) and they have no other symptoms - but I thought I would get your opinions...should I take them in? Should I wait to see how they do at their morning nap before I decide?

    Thanks!

I would probably wait and see how they do as the day goes on. JMO though!

I usually base it more on how are they acting. If they are both in pretty good moods I would hold off going to the dr. today. However, if they both start acting "sick" and just want to lay around I would go in tomorrow if it continues.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

If they seem better and haven't developed any other symptoms, I would wait. A lot of times when mine get a fever, they seem much better in the morning and then the fever goes back up in the evening, but even then, I would wait a day or two before going to the doc, as long as it's not dangerously high and they seem to feel fine when it goes down.

For a fever of 100-101 if they are acting pretty normally and the fever goes down with treatment, I would not take them in. According to my pedi and all the research I have done, you don't need to be overly concerned about a fever unless it is over 102 and lasts for more than 2 days, or if it's over 102 and you can't get it to come down to 100-101 range. Also my pedi sayd that as long as it's in the 100-101 range that you shouldn't try to get it to come down to "normal" 98.6 because as long as it's in the 100-101 range, the body is doing what it is supposed to do to fight off whatever the infection is.

I would wait. If they are having no other symptoms and their fevers seem to be residing I would just skip the office visit. Especially if their immune systems are trying to fight something off, the pediatrician office is a breeding ground for germs and sickness. Hope they feel better asap!
