I would probably return one of each, or save them for b-day gifts when you need some for parties. I rarely get 2 of anything, the only exceptions being Leapsters, bicycles, and scooters.

I don't get two of anything either unless its trikes or riding toys.

They will most likely fight over the big truck if you don't have something comprable to it. I usally get two things that maybe diffrent but kinda the same, then if they ague over one i tell them "sisy is playing with that we need to share go play with (other toy that goes with it)". like we have a walker and an ariplne walker, also have a train and air plane curious gorge toys, then talking winnie the pooh book and winne the pooh telophone. They all go together but are diffrent so gives them diversity without all the agguing and when I do need to be a mediator is easier to avoid melt downs.

    Good luck

I would get one track, but two of the trucks. I agree that they will fight over the truck and the track will give them a chance to work on sharing and taking turns. We gave them one big pirate ship, which they are good at sharing, but two magna doodles.

I always get 2 of everything! I don't feel they should have to share, just becoz they're twins. Most other siblings aren't expected to share gifts for birthdays and christmas, just my take on it.

I would get two trucks but not the same one so they can take turns with a different type...I did alot of this for Christmas because they do fight over things but other than bikes, potty elmo and a few other stuff I bought alot of the same toys but not exact because it gets ridiculous to have two of everything. I would of also bought one of the block box thingy because with that they can both build.

I agree. I try hard to not buy two of everything, but honestly I am now struggling over buying 2 of the same thing for not M&M but Mitchell and my older son Jack bc they play with all the same things. I bought them a lot of the CAT mega blocks stuff and that way I could buy all the different trucks and HOPEFULLY they will share!

I think having two of them won't necessarily be a bad thing...they could just make a bigger track?

We tend to buy 2 of only things that we need to. Siblings often do share gifts as well so it is not that unusual or unexpected to share some things.

With that said- high 'fight' toys we get 2 (Magna Doodles, baby dolls, etc)- but books, blocks, puzzles, fridge magnets, play food, bath toys, large items (house, kitchen)...etc we only get 1.

My rationale is that close in age siblings would not 'each' get a kitchen or a large train set (or younger sibs would get hand me downs and not new)- so get them each a train or car for the track and share the track- but that is just me and our budget!!

I rarely purchase two of anything, unless it's a riding or pushing toy, or a doll. They usually fight over the same one anyways.

I would only give them 1 of each. You will end up with WAY too many toys otherwise. Once the novelty wears off the fighting won't be as bad!

I never buy the same toys. I buy different but similiar ones. That way they each have their own that isnt like the others and then when they share, each has something new to play with...

Agreed. Except for really inexpensive things like coloring books, which I do often buy in duplicate so they don't fight over them. But for big ticket items, one. And they learn to share. As their interests and tastes start to really diverge they will surely get more personal gifts, but for now many of their gifts are either joint gifts or they get two similar but different gifts. Like on Christmas I'm getting a Bontempi trumpet and saxophone (god willing they were backordered and my girls really want these!) -- they'll each open one and they'll end up sharing. Today for Hanukkah they each got a book and they got an Imaginetics set to share. Yesterday, Bubbe and Grandpa got them a joint Melissa & Doug piano.

BTW, my girls are totally double dipping on this intermarriage thing!

I would probably only do one of each of those. I think they are both good candidates for sharing (the truck I think it good for sharing because it has the different little trucks). Just depending on what it is, I will get either one or two. Something big like a kitchen -- just one. Something big like a ride-on toy -- definitely two. Something like Little People sets -- just one. Something like a purse, a baby doll, a doll stroller -- definitely two! Anything that is going to be either highly personal (baby doll) or will be used for prolonged solitary play (magnadoodles), then I get two. Anything that is good for sharing and cooperative play (play kitchen, Little People, block sets) I will get just one. Anything that will be used for shorter spurts of solo play (stuffed animals, musical instruments), I will get 2 similar things so they can trade, play at the same time, etc.

It really just depends on the toy! But definitely unless you live in a mansion with 10 playrooms, you need to exercise caution on buying multiple toys. I swear they procreate overnight!!

I don't buy 2 on everything to play with but they will have their own trikes and etc. They both get to share toys as they should learn how to share to prepare for preschool and so forth on. Of course they would fight but that all part of being sisters/brothers like ourself when were growing up. Our parents didn't buy 2 of same toys whether we are not twins or close in sibing age.
