Should I go for it?

For months, we have had the potty out and asked our girls if they wanted to use it or not. Rachel used it in the beginning, but now really has no interest. Danielle has consistently used it more and more and even asks to go to the potty. We did buy some underwear (of course Rachel wants to wear it over her diaper). So, I was thinking that Danielle is ready to be trained and Rachel isn't. Should I go for it with Danielle? I don't want to rush anything and have it backfire, but since she tells me a lot of the time that she wants to go...? Ugh, and this also means training them separately which doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun. TIA.

YEs I would. Maybe seeing her sister will make Rachel want to try too.

I never let my kids wear their underwear over diapers. Underwear is reserved for those big kids who are potty training. It's a real reward!

What I would do is work with Danielle on making sure her diaper is dry between potty times, and that she is pooping in the potty. Once that is the case--you won't be training her--she will be done, and her reward is the underpants. My friend did that with all three of hers because she dreaded potty training, and they never had a problem once moving onto underpants.

 

i had rachel almost completely trained and then Alexis wanted to try and Rachel regressed b/c her sister was "taking over". that is part of the reason i am in the mess that i am in over here with potty training!

 

Thanks for the advice. I think I will give it a try this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.
