Should I give it a few more weeks, with Trevor?

I started PTing Trevor at the beginning of Jan. He is doing great with going pee on the potty as long as I take him every 2 hours or so. I guess I'm not waiting long enough for him to "need" to go and tell me. He does fight me to go at times on the potty, but he WANTS to wear underwear (since Emilie is PTed) so that is a good sign. He will poop in the potty if he happens to go while he is peeing. But otherwise he does poop in his underwear. :bad: He doesn't have full blown pee accidents, he will pee alittle and then tell me and do the rest of the potty.

So (I know I need to do this, I think I just need people to tell me this) do I wait longer (before taking him to the potty for him to tell me he has to go pee and have a few accidents for a few days or is he not ready yet and I should put him back in diapers?

    Thanks.

I think he's on the right track, I would just stick with it. If he's starting to pee a little in his pants, stopping and telling you, that's a really good sign. Sarah pees full force in her panties and just keeps on playing. I think that's more of a sign of not being ready. I just think the poop comes later for most kids.

Both of my girls have yet to poop in the potty or underwear, so Trevor is definitely further along than them in that respect. I agree with Stacy, if he's stopping midstream to tell you he needs to finish in the potty, that's pretty good and it's just a matter of time before he gets it down pat. If you don't want the mess, maybe a pullup instead of a diaper.

Definitely don't quit. Obviously he's able to hold it if he can stop and finish on the potty. Keep doing what you are doing. Eventually he will learn he's wasting more time by having to change than if he just went in the first place. I'll tell you...Nicky has been potty trained (as long as I take him) for 5 months...but just last week figured out going in and going all on his own!!

I know I have already talked to you Amy, but I would try letting him lead the way for a day and see how it goes.

Thank you Ladies! :give_rose: I know I need to wait for him to tell me he needs to go, but sometimes he just waits so long. I think I just needed to hear it from you all. :D

Amy, I agree. He is so close at this point. Keep at it and give him the pants. He can do this! WTG Trevor! :good:

Wow I am impressed that he can start to pee and stop! WTG!

I just started really trying this weekend and it scares me b/c it's a lot of work. Are you going cold-turkey and no pull-ups?

I know at day-care they are really working with the boys and I was suprised when they had only underwear on at pick up.

No pull-ups here, I've never used pull-ups with any of my kids. I just hate the poop mess with it, but oh well. That's great that your daycare is working with the boys on it. :good:

The same. He waits so long to go, and after it's been over 2 hours, I tell him he needs to go.
