DD is gaining weight.. She gained 1 lb in 1.5 months.. But her Percentiles are dropping... They went from 5% (Birth) to 36% and now to 15%. Her height is Jumping.. But she is not gaining weight according to her height.. Her Dr mentioned it but didnt say anything after that. She is not a big eater and has never been.

DS on the other hand is 100th percentile for both height and weight.. Hes a BIG boy!!

    Thanks

If the Dr. wasn't concerned I wouldn't be either. One of my boys has jumped from under the scale at birth, to 10% to 50%, and now back to 25%. My Dr. said as long as all his measurements %tiles were roughly consistent (head, length, weight) that it was fine. She also said it wasn't uncommon for them to move around a little depnding on when they have growth spurts. We go in for another measurement on Monday and if my home scale is any indication he will be close to 75% on weight this time as he just had a giant growth spurt. He also went from a > 2lb defecit on his brother to almost even in just over a month.

Both DD and DS dropped in percentiles at their 9 month visit, DD from the 50th to the 30th and DS from the 75th to the 60th. The pedi wasn't concerned at all b/c they had gained since their 6 month visit. She put it as, 'they aren't losing, the other babies are just catching up'.

I wouldn't be worried as long as she is gaining and the pedi isn't worried.

Mine go up and down in percentiles all the time, but they are still gaining and growing at each visit just a little faster or slower. If your Ped is not concerned that I wouldnt be either. I would just make a mental note and see where you end up at your next WBV. :hug99:

I would go by what your dr. says. If he mentioned the drop in percentiles, then dropped it, it may just be something he wants to monitor.

My friends little guy has dropped percentiles. (50% at birth now at 9m 5%) For a long time he leveled out and stuck to his curve but then he dropped a little again. They told her this is very normal for the 9-12m age range and as long as he is still growing in length and head size (and not losing weight) he's fine.

Its hard not to worry but if your doctors not worried I think your safe.

My ped said that height is the indicator of getting nutrition not weight. Our boys had a 6mo check up and they are both 27" but Phillip is 15lb 12oz and Ben is 16lb 2oz (Phillip had been 3oz heavier then Ben at the last weigh in so he was outpaced by 9oz). I'm sure the ped would have said something if you needed to be concerned.
