ivana has discovered that she can shake her head "no", adn likes to do it every now and then (for some reason mostly when she's tired). i don't think much of it, but dh is all freaked out and wants us to ask the pedi about it at our appt on thursday. personally, i think it's just a new thing she's discovered and likes to do it, and eventually it'll get old and she'll find something else to "do".
anyone else's baby(ies) do this at one time or another?

Yes! Both of mine went through phases of shaking their heads no. :nea: :nea: It did eventually get old and they stopped, but if it makes your hubby feel better about it, he should call {or you} just to put your mind at ease about it. :)

Mine have done that before and still do sometimes when they are in the highchair. I don't see the harm in it but, to ease your DH's mind go ahead and let him ask the pedi.

Mine do it still on occasion. I think they like the feel of it.

Makenna does it every now and again. I think it's one of the cutest things she does. It makes me laugh. Every time she does it and I laugh, she'll look over at me and flash the biggest grin. I think she's enjoying the new discovery and delighting in the attention.

i think it's pretty funny, too! (which is why i can't understand why dh is freaking out). and her sister thinks it's the most hilarious thing ever! ivana was shaking her head at dinner, and marina was spitting out her food from laughing so hard! buuut, i'll ask the pedi just for dh

Rea does this all the time. We call it her shark shake. And it does seem that she does it most when she's tired. Or sometimes if she's just playing and talking.

Add my DD to the list, she does it all the time and then just laughes like crazy. She loves if you shake your head back at her, it's a great game. I think they just need the sensory input and it's nothing to be worried about. Now if only I could get her to shake her head yes!!

Maia does it all the time. If you say NO to her she shakes her head or if you try to put food in her mouth and she doesnt want it. Kind of makes me think the little devil knows what she's doing!! And sometimes she laughs hysterically while doing it.

I had to laugh about this b/c Natalie just started doing this too and she cracks me up when she does it. When I tell her "no, no" she will look at me and laugh and shake her head. LOL She also shakes her head when she gets very excited about something. I thought something was wrong with her too but it is just one of the ways she communicates. I laugh at her when she shakes her head now.

Grayson started doing the same thing this week. He does it when he doesn't want any more of a certain food, when he's tired and when he doesn't want to do things (change his clothes/diaper, bottle, etc). I think it's kind of neat that he's learning to express himself. :)

Both my boys love to shake their heads "no". They do it when they are "dancing" and whenever I shake my head (in any direction). I think they really like the way the world looks when they do it. I'm more worried that they will be saying "no" before they are saying "mommy"! :)

Yes here too! Sophia does this when she gets tired or excited! She gets this huge grin on her face and the head starts going. It's funny!
But if your DH is worried, it cannot hurt to ask the doctor about it.

Mine still think its hysterical to do it. They shake their heads at each other and crack up! They roll on the floor laughing if I do it too. Guess its baby comedy. But if he's concerned he should ask at your pedi appointment.
